Java Backend Developer

We are hiring an experienced Backend (Java) Developer with 5+ years of professional backend software development experience to build, maintain and improve scalable, high-performance microservices. This is a full-time, onsite opportunity based in Mohali, India, with work aligned to the JST time zone.

The role requires expert-level proficiency in Java and Spring Boot, strong experience with Apache Kafka and MySQL, and hands-on knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, REST APIs and CI/CD pipelines.

The selected candidate will take ownership of assigned microservices, understand and document existing business logic, develop reliable APIs, implement event-driven integrations, maintain deployment configurations and support production issues. The role also involves code reviews, automated testing, technical documentation, architecture discussions and mentoring junior developers.

Candidates with experience in distributed systems, production support, secure API development and cloud-native application deployment are encouraged to apply. Familiarity with telecom systems, Firebase Cloud Messaging, Helm charts and observability tools will be an advantage.

• Take full ownership of 2-3 assigned PTCS microservices, including App/Main Controller, ASM Controller, BSS Controller, Misc/Data Controller, Push Notification Controller, Email Notification Controller, Scheduler and Exporter.
• Understand, document and improve existing business logic implemented across the microservices portfolio.
• Design, develop and maintain scalable, high-performance REST APIs consumed by frontend applications and external systems.
• Implement Apache Kafka producers and consumers for push notification and email notification pipelines.
• Integrate with external systems and services, including BSS, ASM, ATG, JID/RID, Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM), email systems and HashiCorp Vault.
• Write clean, maintainable and well-tested Java and Spring Boot code in accordance with established coding standards and architectural guidelines.
• Conduct code reviews and provide constructive technical feedback to team members.
• Develop and maintain unit tests, integration tests and regression test suites.
• Maintain and improve Helm charts and Kubernetes deployment configurations for assigned services.
• Manage containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes, including pods, ConfigMaps, Secrets and resource limits.
• Support L3/L4 escalations and investigate production incidents related to owned microservices.
• Contribute to Methods of Procedure (MOPs), test cases, test strategies and technical documentation.
• Participate in architecture reviews and contribute to technical decisions.
• Work with CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab CI or ArgoCD.
• Implement and maintain secure authentication and authorization using JWT, OAuth2 and token-based security patterns.
• Mentor junior developers and contribute to team knowledge sharing.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams working across organizational boundaries and time zones.

No mandatory certification is specified. Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD) certification is a desirable qualification.
