API Developer / API Designer Java, Spring Boot (Cards / Financial Services)

Role Objective

Hire an experienced API Developer / API Designer to design and deliver secure, scalable, highperformance APIs for Cards and Financial Services platforms, supporting businesscritical transaction flows and integrations.

Core Responsibilities (What They’ll Do)

• Design and build REST APIs using Java & Spring Boot
• Define API contracts, standards, versioning, and documentation
• Implement microservices and eventdriven flows using Kafka
• Deploy and run APIs on AWS cloud environments
• Ensure security, compliance, resilience, and observability
• Collaborate with Cards business, QA, DevOps, and Architecture teams

MustHave Skills

Technology

• Java (8 / 11 / 17), Spring Boot
• REST API design & integration
• Apache Kafka (eventdriven architecture)
• AWS (EC2/EKS, S3, RDS, IAM, API Gateway)
• SQL databases (Oracle / PostgreSQL / MySQL)

Domain

• Strong experience in Cards or Financial Services
• Understanding of card transaction flows & banking APIs
• Experience with highthroughput, regulated systems

GoodtoHave / Value Add

• API Gateway (Spring Cloud / AWS API Gateway)
• OAuth2, JWT, mTLS security models
• Redis / caching, performance optimization
• Observability tools (Splunk, AppDynamics, ELK, Prometheus)
• Experience in Cards migration or platform modernization

Experience Profile

• 6–10 years backend / API development experience
• Prior work on banking, cards, or payments programs preferred
