IT Operations Backup Analyst

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Storage & Backup Administrator to manage, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot enterprise storage and backup infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in NetApp Storage, Commvault Backup, Dell Data Domain, NAS/SAN technologies, and backup administration. The role involves ensuring high availability, data protection, infrastructure security, backup operations, and disaster recovery support while collaborating with infrastructure teams and vendors.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer, monitor, and support enterprise storage and backup platforms including NetApp, EMC, Commvault, and Dell Data Domain.
• Perform day-to-day operations for storage and backup infrastructure.
• Manage NetApp FAS, AFF, and Cloud ONTAP environments.
• Configure and support multiprotocol NAS environments with LDAP and Active Directory (AD) authentication.
• Administer Commvault backup solutions, including NDMP, IntelliSnap, and related technologies.
• Manage storage systems using OnCommand System Manager, DDMC, and other administration tools.
• Configure and maintain monitoring tools such as Active IQ Unified Manager (AIQUM) and Cloud Insights.
• Implement security hardening and compliance measures for storage and backup infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot and resolve SAN, NAS, storage, network, and backup-related issues.
• Perform backup and recovery operations for files, folders, databases, and virtual machines.
• Conduct storage and backup infrastructure upgrades, patching, and maintenance activities.
• Execute advanced storage configuration, migration, and disaster recovery tasks.
• Analyze and resolve backup performance issues and recovery failures.
• Provide root cause analysis (RCA) and escalate critical incidents when necessary.
• Maintain and enforce backup retention policies, legal hold requirements, and operational procedures.
• Coordinate with vendors for issue resolution and support activities.
• Ensure timely incident updates and ticket management through ServiceNow.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Minimum 5+ years of experience in Storage and Backup Administration.
• Minimum 3+ years of experience with Commvault Backup technologies.
• Hands-on experience with enterprise storage platforms such as NetApp, EMC, and Data Domain.
• Strong understanding of virtualization, networking, server hardware, and datacenter operations.
• Experience managing storage and backup environments in enterprise-scale infrastructures.
• Experience in ransomware prevention, detection, and recovery strategies.
• Strong communication, documentation, and reporting skills.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and support shift rotations.
