Skills:

Objective:
Enable distributed tracing and request/response monitoring at the Istio service mesh layer without code-level instrumentation.

Key Responsibilities:

* Configure Envoy filters to log selective API traffic at ingress/egress.
* Manage Istio telemetry v2 and integrate with OpenTelemetry Collector.
* Define service-level span mapping for end-to-end trace continuity.
* Optimize logging performance using sampling, filtering, and buffering techniques.
* Troubleshoot missing spans and latency in service mesh observability.

Technical Skills:

* Istio, Envoy Proxy, and Kubernetes
* Lua filters and custom access logging
* OpenTelemetry integration
* FluentBit/Fluentd for log forwarding
* Deep understanding of HTTP/gRPC protocols
