About this role
- Job Description: As a Storage Support Specialist at Kyndryl, youll solve complex problems and identify potential future issues across the spectrum of platforms and services. Youll be at the forefront of new technology and modernization, working with some of our biggest clients – which means some of the biggest in the world.
There’s never a typical day as a System Administrator at Kyndryl, because no two projects are alike. You’ll be managing systems data for clients and providing day-to-day solutions and security compliance. You’ll oversee a queue of assignments and work directly with technicians, prioritizing tickets to deliver the best solutions to our clients.
Responsibilities : - Administer and support IBM i (AS/400) systems to ensure high availability and performance.
- Monitor storage utilization and perform capacity planning and storage allocation.
- Perform backup, recovery, and restore operations using BRMS and enterprise backup solutions.
- Install and apply PTFs, perform system upgrades, and execute IPL activities.
- Monitor system health, analyze performance and implement performance tuning recommendations.
- Troubleshoot hardware, storage, operating system and application-related issues.
- Manage user profiles, system security and access permissions.
- Support High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) environments and participate in DR testing.
- Respond to incidents, perform root cause analysis (RCA), and implement preventive actions.
- Handle incident, problem, and change management activities in accordance with ITIL processes.
- Work with infrastructure, storage, network, and application teams to resolve complex technical issues.
- Maintain system documentation, operational procedures, and support knowledge base articles.
- Provide 247 production support and participate in on-call rotations as required.
- Ensure compliance with organizational security policies, backup standards, and service level agreements (SLAs).

Required Skills: - 8+ years of experience as an iSeries Storage Support Specialist.
- Hands-on administration and support of IBM FlashSystem storage.
- Experience managing Brocade Fibre Channel Switches.
- Strong expertise in SAN zoning, host connectivity, multipathing, LUN provisioning, and capacity management.
- Experience in storage troubleshooting, performance monitoring, firmware/code upgrades, and incident resolution.
- Hands-on experience with IBM storage replication technologies, including: Full System Replication (FSR) Full System FlashCopy (FSFC) Policy-Based Replication (PBR)
- Experience with EMC Data Domain administration and support.
- Knowledge of Data Domain VTL, backup connectivity, replication, capacity planning, and performance management.
- Understanding of IBM Power and IBM i storage connectivity, including NPIV and Fibre Channel.
- Experience supporting enterprise production environments.
- Strong knowledge of Incident, Problem, and Change Management processes.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex storage and connectivity issues in a production environment.
- Strong communication, coordination, and documentation skills.
- Preferred Skills:
- Experience working in 247 enterprise support environments.
- Knowledge of IBM Power Systems infrastructure.
- Familiarity with backup and recovery solutions.
- Experience working with ITSM tools such as ServiceNow.
- Understanding of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) concepts.
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional infrastructure teams.
- Experience in capacity planning, performance optimization, and storage lifecycle management.
