Role Summary:
Hands-on engineering role focused on building production-ready quantitative investment tools as full stack web applications, with a primary focus on frontend and UI development and contributions to backend API design and implementation as needed.
What Youll Do:
- Design and build intuitive user interfaces for financial and quantitative applications
- Contribute to backend API design and implementation using FastAPI or Flask as required
- Work directly with business stakeholders to translate requirements into design specs, wireframes, and proof-of-concepts, iterating rapidly to reach final specifications
- Collaborate with senior developers in the International Tools Team on user-facing quantitative investment tools
- Apply strong software engineering practices to deliver scalable, maintainable, and well-tested solutions
- Participate in technical design discussions and support development and enhancement of team engineering standards
What We re Looking For (Must-Haves):
- 4+ years of relevant work experience in frontend development, ideally within an institutional investment environment
- Strong JavaScript/HTML/CSS foundation and proven experience with modern frameworks (preferably React)
- Experience with context-based state management, Chart.js for visualizations, and TailwindCSS for design
- Deep understanding of UI/UX considerations for financial and modelling applications
- Prior experience developing bespoke frontends for quantitative applications (strong plus)
- Experience designing and consuming REST APIs hands-on exposure to FastAPI, Flask, Express, or similar frameworks
- Ability to handle structured and unstructured data across multiple formats (JSON, spreadsheets, CSV)
- Experience with Git/GitHub and standard software development practices, including integration, end-to-end, and user acceptance testing
- Practical understanding of CI/CD and basic DevOps concepts
- Clear communication skills and ability to work independently
Good to Have (Optional - only if mentioned):
- CFA or Actuarial qualification
- Database experience with cloud-based SQL databases, including schema design, querying, and ORMs
- Experience with financial data providers such as Bloomberg or Refinitiv
- Experience with cloud hosting platforms such as AWS or Azure
- Exposure to containerization, observability, or production support in a web application environment
