Job Summary

We are seeking a strategic and result-oriented Purchase Head to lead our procurement, inventory, and supply chain operations for sheet metal manufacturing. In this role, you will oversee material planning via MRP, direct end-to-end procurement of raw materials and outsourced services, drive cost-optimization strategies, and build robust vendor networks to maintain seamless shop floor production.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Procurement & Subcontracting

• Direct procurement for sheet metal raw materials (CRCA, HR, GI, Stainless Steel sheets/coils), hardware, fasteners, tools, and consumables.
• Negotiate rates, lead times, and terms for outsourced operations including laser cutting, CNC bending, stamping, powder coating, and plating.
• Evaluate quotations, approve purchase orders (POs), and execute cost-saving strategies across all procurement channels.
• Build, evaluate, and maintain strong networks with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure reliable, high-quality supply chains.

MRP & Production Scheduling

• Oversee Material Requirements Planning (MRP) outputs derived from ERP systems, sales orders, and Master Production Schedules (MPS).
• Align incoming material schedules and vendor call-off orders directly with shop floor production plans to prevent line stoppages.
• Identify potential material shortages early and proactively adjust procurement strategies for long-lead-time items.

Inventory Governance & Scrap Optimization

• Establish and monitor inventory control frameworks including Min/Max thresholds, Safety Stock, Reorder Levels, and stock valuation (FIFO).
• Supervise regular inventory audits, track movements (GRN, issuance, scrap), and resolve stock variances between physical counts and ERP records.
• Oversee incoming inspection workflows with Quality Control and manage vendor returns for non-conforming materials.
• Implement strategies to optimize sheet metal utilization, minimize off-cut waste, and manage scrap processing efficiently.

Leadership & Team Management

• Lead, mentor, and monitor the daily performance of the purchase, store, and inventory teams.
• Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for vendor on-time delivery, quality acceptance rates, and procurement cost savings.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Education: B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical/Production Engineering, or a Master's/Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or Business Administration.
• Experience: 8+ years of total experience with proven leadership/managerial background in procurement, MRP planning, and inventory control within sheet metal fabrication or industrial manufacturing.
• Domain Expertise: Expert knowledge of sheet metal grades (CRCA, HRCA, GI, SS, Aluminum), gauges, weight calculations, fabrication processes, and inventory practices.
• Technical Skills: Advanced expertise in ERP modules (SAP MM, MS Dynamics, or similar), raw material planning tools, MS Excel (analytics), and engineering drawing interpretation.
