Internal Control Manager

The Internal Control framework is an important pillar of Risk Management. It helps management understand risks faced and reduces operational risks allowing for targeted actions to mitigate risks in line with the risk appetite framework. It ensures that in each Department, the key internal controls are implemented, documented, assessed and monitored in front of material risks, with clear management accountabilities and a second line function validates and reviews the framework.
Within the AXA XL Divisional Risk Management, in the Risk Governance & Control and Operational Risk department, in the Internal Control team (Center of Excellence), you will perform second line control activities and report on the AXA XL Division control framework. You will be responsible for some Finance and Business processes on the Internal Financial Control (IFC) Framework. You will also contribute to the Internal Control Framework on some Finance processes (for AXA XL division worldwide) and provide support to operational managers to define the approach to describe and operate controls.

What youll be doing

What will your essential responsibilities include

• Contribute to the maintenance and continuous improvement of AXA XL Internal Control framework on Finance processes and of the Internal Financial Control (IFC IFRS) framework.
• Ensure that key internal controls are defined, implemented, documented, assessed and monitored in front of material risks.
• Support and question the first line of defense to ensure that controls are well formalized and regularly updated.
• Perform Self-directed testing of controls performed by first line of defense (design and operational effectiveness testing).
• Support first line of defense quarterly self-assessment.
• Ensure first line defines action plans on issues and monitor them.
• Participate in the reporting on the Internal Control and Internal Financial Control frameworks.
• Coordinate with External Auditors on the testing of Internal Financial Controls.
• Participating in projects impacting the IFC IFRS framework.

You will report to Senior Manager, Internal Control.

What youll bring

Required Skills and Abilities:

• Degree: chartered accountant
• Knowledge of control framework for insurance (internal control, audit, operational risks ) and relevant experience in consultancy firms or financial sector companies.
• Knowledge of P&C Commercial business processes will be preferred.
• Good communication, negotiation and presentation skills.
• Ability to ask questions and to share opinions.
• Ability to interact with senior management and multiple stakeholders.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
