The CFD Engineer Intern will support the Simulation Team in performing Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analyses for thermal management, airflow optimization, and cooling performance evaluation of power electronics, batteries, inverters, and energy storage products. The intern will work closely with simulation and design engineers to improve product performance and reliability through virtual prototyping.

Key Responsibilities
- Thermal Analysis:
- analytical, numerical and experimental methods to perform electro-thermal analysis of power electronics/Li Ion Battery solutions. Stay informed about industry trends and advancements in thermal management and high-speed design evaluation.
- Inverter Thermal Solutions:
- Design and develop thermal solutions for extremely compact, high-power density inverters.
- Create predictive thermal designs with over 90% accuracy by using analytical and/or numerical modelling methodology
- Advanced Ansys Modelling:
- Enhance the existing simulation methodology to reduce turnaround time and/or improve accuracy.
- Develop simulation methodologies to replicate product performance in industrial environments like high dust/humidity scenarios and provide feasible design inputs to reduce their impact on the performance.
- Electro-Thermal Modelling:
- Perform 0D/1D electro-thermal modelling for power electronics devices such as MOSFETs, IGBTs, and diodes.
- Conduct Multiphysics simulations using MATLAB and Ansys to understand the thermal effects on device performance and lifespan.
- IP-Rated Enclosure Design:
- Design and validate thermal solutions for IP-rated enclosures, ensuring efficient heat dissipation and protection.
- Battery Thermal Management:
- Simulate battery thermal behaviour, including thermal runaway and gas venting, using abusive battery models.
Qualification / Personal Attributes
- Education :
- Bachelor s degree (B.Tech/B.E.) in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Master s degree (M.E./M.Tech) in Mechanical or Thermal Engineering is preferred.
- Experience : Not Required.
- Technical Knowledge :
- Proficiency in fluid flow and heat transfer principles.
- Familiarity with Li-ion battery technology and thermal management.
- Experience using simulation tools such as Ansys Fluent, ICEPAK, MATLAB, and CREO.
- Simulation Workflow :
- Understanding of industry-standard simulation analysis workflows and testing standards.
- Knowledge in CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) Analysis using Ansys Fluent software, specifically related to Power Electronics/Li Ion Battery thermal management.
- Ability to apply thermal design standards effectively.
- Specific Skills :
- Expertise in heat sink design, fan selection, and power electronics heat generation.
- Proficient in basic thermal calculations for preliminary concept design validation.
- Hands-on experience in pre- and post-processing of CFD analyses, including model preparation, meshing, graphing, contour visualization, and animation creation.
- Knowledge of thermal interface materials (TIM) used in the power electronics industry, including proper selection to meet thermal requirements while considering cost-effectiveness and environmental impact.
- Optimization and Communication :
- Analytical skills to optimize thermal solutions by selecting appropriate heat sinks, power electronics devices, vent locations, and TIM.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills for negotiation and conflict resolution.
- Organizational skills and attention to detail.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to address thermal challenges effectively.
