About this role
Role & responsibilities
Job Summary
We are the developer and owner of a prestigious 5-Star Hotel Development in Accra, Ghana, executing the project directly through labour contractors and directly procured materials. We are looking for an experienced Interior Designer with strong hospitality interiors background to drive interior delivery at site on our behalf.
This is a site-based delivery role rather than a studio or concept-only position. While you will develop and coordinate design detail, the core of the role is translating approved design into built work on the floors reviewing shop drawings, approving materials and mock-ups, supervising finishing and FF&E installation, and holding execution to five-star quality.
Key Responsibilities
Site Delivery & Execution
- Supervise interior fit-out works at site on a daily basis and ensure execution matches approved drawings, finishes schedules and specifications.
- Set out and review mock-up rooms and sample areas, and drive approval and sign-off before bulk execution begins.
- Inspect quality of finishing works flooring, wall finishes, joinery, ceilings, painting, stone, glazing, lighting and decorative elements — and reject substandard work.
- Coordinate and supervise installation of furniture, fixtures, fittings, loose furniture and artwork through to completion.
- Monitor interior progress against the construction programme and coordinate with contractors to maintain timely completion.
- Manage snagging and de-snagging of interior works through to handover.
Design Coordination & Drawings
- Develop and coordinate interior layouts, detailed drawings and finishes documentation for the hotel project.
- Prepare and review floor plans, elevations, sections, reflected ceiling plans and detail drawings for site execution.
- Review contractor and vendor shop drawings, material submissions, samples and prototypes against approved design intent.
- Coordinate with architects, MEP consultants, structural engineers and specialist vendors to resolve interfaces and clashes at site.
- Identify design discrepancies and buildability issues at site and drive timely resolution with the design team.
- Ensure interior works meet luxury hospitality standards and, where applicable, hotel operator brand standards.
Preferred candidate profile
- Bachelor's degree / Diploma in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, Architecture or a related field.
- 4–9 years of relevant experience in interior design with substantial site execution exposure.
- Strong experience on 5-star hotels, luxury hospitality, high-end residential or premium commercial projects is preferred.
- Proven site-based delivery experience — this role is not suited to candidates with studio or concept-design-only backgrounds.
- Excellent knowledge of interior finishes, materials, joinery, FF&E and construction methods.
- Strong understanding of architectural and interior drawings and detailing, and the ability to detail for site.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, 3D visualisation software and MS Office; knowledge of Revit is an advantage.
- A sharp eye for finish quality and the confidence to reject substandard workmanship on site.
- Good coordination, communication, presentation and problem-solving skills, with fluency in English.
- Ability to manage multiple design and site activities simultaneously.
- Willing and physically able to work full-time from an active construction site in tropical conditions.
- Willingness to relocate to and remain based in Accra, Ghana for the duration of the project.
