Intellectual Property Executive

About the Role:

We are looking for an IP Executive with a strong academic background in Chemistry/Chemical Sciences along with formal education or specialization in Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) / Patent Law. The selected candidate will be responsible for patent searching, prior research, patent analysis, patent landscaping, IP documentation, and supporting the company's intellectual property activities, particularly in the chemical and pharmaceutical domain.

Freshers with a strong Chemistry background who have recently completed their LL.B./LL.M. or relevant qualification in Intellectual Property Law/Patent Law are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct patent searches and prior-art searches for chemical, pharmaceutical, API, formulation, and process-related technologies.
• Analyse patent specifications, claims, disclosures, and prosecution history.
• Review patents to identify relevant prior art and existing intellectual property.
• Assist in evaluating novelty, inventive step, patentability, and FTO.
• Prepare patent search reports, claim charts, patent summaries, and analytical reports.
• Conduct patent landscaping and technology/competitor analysis.
• Monitor newly published patents and patent applications relevant to the company's technologies.
• Study competitor patent portfolios and identify relevant developments.
• Work closely with the R&D team to understand inventions, chemical processes, compounds, formulations, and technologies.
• Assist in preparing and maintaining Invention Disclosure Forms (IDFs) and other IP documentation.
• Support external patent attorneys/agents with information required for patent drafting, filing, prosecution, and examination.
• Maintain an updated database of the company's patents, patent applications, third-party patents, and IP-related activities.
• Assist in identifying potential third-party IP risks and report relevant findings to the concerned team.
• Coordinate with R&D, Legal, Regulatory, and other departments on IP-related matters.
• Maintain strict confidentiality of inventions, technical information, research data, and proprietary information.

Educational Qualification:

Preferred educational background:

• M.Sc. Chemistry + LL.B./LL.M. in IPR / Patent Law
• B.Sc./M.Sc. Chemistry + PG Diploma in Intellectual Property Rights / Patent Law
• M.Pharm / Pharmaceutical Sciences + LL.B./LL.M. in IPR
• Other relevant combinations of Chemistry/Chemical Sciences + Intellectual Property Law

Experience:

Required Skills:

• Strong understanding of Chemistry, particularly Organic, Pharmaceutical, Medicinal, or Process Chemistry.
• Basic understanding of Indian Patent Law and patent procedures.
• Ability to understand and interpret chemical structures, reactions, processes,formulations, and technical information.
• Strong research and analytical skills.
• Ability to read and interpret patent claims and specifications.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to prepare clear and structured analytical reports.
• Proficiency in MS Office.
