Instructional Designer

Responsibilities:

• Works with Subject Matter Experts on the design and development of the UoPeople online courses.
• Provides expertise in instructional planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of online learning courses.
• Reviews online course materials for copyright, ADA and Section 508 compliance.
• Collaborates with the Course Developer team to develop accessible, engaging, and interactive content elements.
• Ensures the application and integration of appropriate teaching and learning theory and distance learning principles into a fully online course development process.
• Assists with the selection of instructional materials and the design and use of learning tools and activities for an interactive online environment.
• Provides guidance and assistance for the creation of effective and meaningful assessments of student learning.
• Contributes to the identification of high-quality open education resources (OER).
• Provides direction on the design and development of all course elements, including syllabi, course learning outcomes, and curricular mapping.
• Tracks progress and ensures timely completion of the overall project deliverables.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Master's degree in instructional design or related field preferred, but not required.
• Bachelor's degree required in instructional design or related field.
• Relevant certifications in education and/or educational technology are acceptable.
• 1-3 years' experience required.
• Fluency in languages is a plus, specifically Arabic and Spanish.
• Ability to manage time, projects, and resources to achieve goals.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
• Working knowledge of basic instructional design principles.
• Some technical skills, including a basic knowledge of HTML, Internet research, Open Educational Resources (OERs), and educational web tools.
• Proven abilities in curriculum development and instructional design.
• Interest in the implementation of innovative, creative course delivery methods.
• Familiarity with the OSCQR rubric preferred, but not required.
