The role sets the vision, operating model and capability roadmap for consumer and shopper insights, market and competitor intelligence, commercial and channel analytics, forecasting, revenue growth management, research operations, foresight and insight enablement. The Tower Lead acts as a senior advisor to client leadership, ensuring that the tower converts data and research into decision-ready recommendations that improve growth, portfolio, pricing, investment and market choices.

The role leads a large, multi-disciplinary team of 40+ people through capability leaders, Project Leads, SDMs and specialist teams. The Tower Lead works closely with the SDM on strategic workforce planning, capacity and utilisation, while the SDM retains day-to-day ownership of intake controls, resource allocation, workflow and service quality. Project Leads retain ownership of project business KPIs, client commitments and delivery outcomes.

    Strategic Scope of the Tower

Consumer and shopper intelligence: segmentation, typologies, demand spaces, unmet needs, behavioural analytics, journey insights and activation learning.

Market, category and commercial intelligence: 5C and 4P assessments, category performance, channel dynamics, profit pools and cross-market benchmarking.

Competitive and regulatory intelligence: competitor monitoring, pricing and promotion signals, regulatory, excise, tax, enforcement, geopolitical and macroeconomic context.

Revenue growth management: pricing, elasticity, pack-price architecture, portfolio optimisation, trade investment, promotions, mix, margin and financial scenario modelling.

Forecasting and decision science: market and brand forecasts, predictive analytics, scenario planning, opportunity sizing, sensitivity analysis and driver-based models.

Research and tracking: quantitative and qualitative research, fieldwork, consumer trackers, brand health, supplier governance and research repositories.

Data, analytics and enablement: business requirements, data sourcing, quality standards, dashboards, automation, data platform integration, insight platforms and adoption.

    Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities

Act as the senior strategic advisor to client Marketing, Commercial, Finance, Strategy, Consumer Insights, Category and RGM leadership.

Shape and prioritise the tower demand portfolio based on strategic relevance, value, risk, market opportunity, resource requirements and delivery feasibility.

Lead executive governance, strategic reviews and performance forums, communicating implications, choices and recommended actions with clarity.

Ensure insights are embedded into business planning, category and brand strategy, portfolio choices, pricing, investment and activation decisions.

Insight, Research and Commercial Intelligence Leadership

Set standards for market assessments, 5C/4P analysis, consumer and shopper research, competitor intelligence, regulatory context and executive storytelling.

Ensure cross-market data and research are synthesised into patterns, risks, opportunities, scenarios and decision-ready strategic implications.

Govern consumer typologies, demand spaces, need states, shopper journeys, brand health trackers and foresight frameworks to maintain relevance and business adoption.

Champion triangulation across quantitative, qualitative, behavioural, sales, channel, competitor and regulatory sources to improve decision confidence.

Ensure research, supplier and knowledge-management practices meet methodological, regulatory, quality and commercial standards.

    RGM, Forecasting and Business Performance

Provide senior leadership across pricing, excise, elasticity, pack-price architecture, portfolio, promotions, contracted trade terms and investment effectiveness.

Ensure analytical teams quantify volume, revenue, margin, mix, trade spend and ROI implications across scenarios and strategic choices.

Oversee market, brand and commercial forecasting, including driver review, forecast accuracy, stress testing and integration of regulatory and competitor assumptions.

Direct root-cause analysis of performance gaps and ensure recommendations identify clear financial impact, ownership, KPIs and implementation guardrails.

Promote consistent business KPI definitions, benchmark frameworks and performance narratives across markets, categories, channels and brands.

    Data, Analytics, Technology and Innovation

Sponsor governed data sourcing, quality, taxonomy, integration and modelling standards that enable trusted insight and scalable analytics.

Set the strategic direction for dashboards, automated reporting, advanced models, natural-language analytics, GenAI-enabled context platforms and insight products.

Prioritise technology and data investments based on business value, scalability, integration, usability, risk and total cost.

Ensure new data sources, models and tools are validated with business stakeholders and supported by appropriate controls, documentation and adoption plans.

Drive automation, reusable assets and self-service capabilities while preserving analytical rigour and human judgement.

    People, Capacity and Capability Leadership

Lead, inspire and develop a 40+ person multidisciplinary organisation, building a strong leadership bench across Project Leads, SDMs and specialist capability teams.

Define the strategic workforce plan, capability mix, location strategy, succession priorities and future skill requirements for the tower.

Partner closely with the SDM to align demand priorities with capacity, improve utilisation, resolve resource conflicts and protect critical delivery commitments.

Create communities of practice, quality standards, coaching mechanisms and development pathways across research, analytics, commercial intelligence and RGM.

Build an inclusive, accountable and high-performance culture that rewards collaboration, commercial curiosity, quality and measurable impact.

    Commercial, Financial and Governance Leadership

Own the tower business plan, budget envelope, external research and data investments, supplier strategy and productivity agenda.

Monitor the overall health of the tower through business value, client satisfaction, talent, quality, utilisation, productivity and capability maturity measures.

Ensure risks, dependencies, compliance obligations and material delivery concerns are surfaced early and resolved through the appropriate governance route.

Sponsor continuous improvement and lessons-learned mechanisms that strengthen repeatability, quality and scale.
