About this role
1. Engagement Overview
Enet is undertaking a comprehensive Core Network transformation and operational stabilization program covering Transport, Core, and Voice/IMS platforms. As part of this program, Enet requires an experienced MetaSwitch Subject Matter Expert to be deployed onsite for a period of 4 to 6 months. The consultant will work closely with Enet's NOC, Core Network, and Business teams to review, optimize, troubleshoot, and support the MetaSwitch-based voice and softswitch infrastructure, while contributing to the broader network architecture and OSS integration initiatives currently underway (including redundancy testing, DC-DR validation, and Operations automation ).
2. Purpose of the Role
The MetaSwitch Expert will provide hands-on technical expertise on MetaSwitch platforms (Call Feature Server, Session Border Controller, Media Gateway Controller, Perimeta SBC, and related VoIP/IMS components) to:
Ensure stable, reliable, and optimized operation of the existing MetaSwitch voice infrastructure.
Support call flow design, validation, and troubleshooting across Transport and Core network domains.
Assist in redundancy and failover testing for voice-related applications (AAA, DNS, DHCP, Call Control) across DC and DR sites.
Provide architecture-level guidance for integrating MetaSwitch systems with the proposed OSS platform.
Support migration planning and MOP development for upcoming Huawei equipment deployment.
3. Key Responsibilities
Perform detailed review and assessment of the existing MetaSwitch deployment (CFS, MGC, SBC/Perimeta, Session Border Controllers) and produce as-built documentation.
Design, validate, and document end-to-end call flows for voice and signaling services across the network.
Provide technical leadership in troubleshooting complex voice/signaling issues (SIP, SIP-I, ISUP, MGCP/H.248) across Core and Transport layers.
Support DC-DR redundancy assessment and execute failover/redundancy testing for MetaSwitch and associated network applications (AAA, DNS, DHCP).
Collaborate with the Firewall/Security team to validate firewall architecture and scope as it pertains to MetaSwitch signaling and media traffic.
Work with the Transport/Core team on integration and interoperability between MetaSwitch platforms and Huawei Transport/Core equipment.
Participate in technical discussions with Enet NOC, Business, Call Centre, and other stakeholders to define OSS integration.
Assist in preparing the Method of Procedure (MOP) and migration/cutover plan for new equipment deployment, minimizing service impact.
Provide day-to-day operational support and act as an escalation point for MetaSwitch-related incidents raised by the NOC.
Deliver knowledge transfer (KT) sessions and mentor Enet's internal NOC and Core Network engineers on MetaSwitch operations and best practices.
Maintain accurate technical documentation, configuration records, and change logs throughout the engagement.
Ensure adherence to Enet's change management, security, and network operations policies.
4. Required Skills & Technical Expertise
Minimum 6–10 years of hands-on experience in Core Voice Network / IMS with at least 4–5 years of direct MetaSwitch platform experience.
Strong expertise in MetaSwitch product suite: Call Feature Server (CFS), Media Gateway Controller (MGC), Perimeta Session Border Controller, MetaView / MetaSphere EAS, and related management systems.
In-depth knowledge of signaling protocols: SIP, SIP-I, SIP-T, ISUP, MGCP, H.248/Megaco, and SS7 fundamentals.
Proven experience in call flow design, analysis, and troubleshooting for fixed, mobile, and interconnect voice services.
Understanding of Transport and Core network architecture (MPLS, IP/MPLS, routing/switching fundamentals) and how voice platforms interconnect with these layers.
Experience with DC-DR architecture, redundancy design, and failover testing methodologies.
Working knowledge of network security and firewall concepts as applied to voice/signaling traffic.
Exposure to OSS/BSS platforms and integration concepts; prior exposure to Rakuten Symphony or similar cloud-native OSS platforms is an added advantage.
Familiarity with Huawei Transport and Core equipment is desirable, given ongoing vendor integration.
Experience preparing MOPs, migration plans, and cutover documentation for telecom network deployments.
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to work under operational (live network) constraints.
5. Desirable / Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Electronics, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
MetaSwitch vendor certification(s) or equivalent vendor training.
Prior experience in a telecom operator or ISP environment in a similar onsite consulting/SME role.
ITIL Foundation certification or exposure to structured NOC/incident management processes.
Experience working alongside multi-vendor teams in a live production network.
6. Engagement Details
Duration: 4 to 6 months, onsite at Enet, with possible extension based on project requirements.
Reporting: Direct reporting to Enet's CTO.
Deliverables: As-built documentation, call flow diagrams, redundancy test reports, MOP/migration plan, OSS integration inputs, and periodic progress summaries.
Location: Onsite at Enet facilities, with availability for NOC/DC-DR site visits as required.
