IBM Power Systems Engineer (AS / 400)

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement innovative AS/400 engineering solutions that integrate seamlessly into larger systems and align with organizational standards.
• Develop strategies and roADMaps in close collaboration with cross-functional architecture teams to drive continuous improvement of AS/400 platforms.
• Collaborate with technical teams to identify, test, and deploy monitoring/automation tools to enhance the performance/reliability of AS/400 systems.
• Assist in planning and execution of migration strategies to support uninterrupted transition from legacy AS/400 systems to modern platforms.
• Provide technical expertise for risk assessments, business continuity planning, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Analyze requirements for incoming requests, producing deliverables that are clearly defined and agreed upon with stakeholders.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and third-party vendors to propose and implement new solutions and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Conduct technical reviews of change requests and designs created by other teams, aligning with organizational goals and standards.
• Maintain and support IBM AS/400 systems, including OS/400 operating systems, promoting high availability and optimal performance.
• Implement and maintain security controls in compliance with audit, regulatory, and data retention requirements, as well as organizational policies.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in business, technology, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
• 5+ years of experience working with IBM AS/400 systems, including iSeries, OS/400 and CL programming.
• Proficiency in RPG, COBOL, and DB2 databases.
• Expertise in legacy networking protocols and integration with storage and backup systems.
• Broad knowledge of infrastructure and networking systems, mainframe platforms, and cloud and middleware capabilities, including private and public cloud environments.
• Experience in creating strategic technology roADMaps and detailed solution designs.
• Strong ability to perform requirements analysis and develop holistic solution designs.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
