Hvac Design Engineer

Job Summary

We are seeking an HVAC Design Engineer to develop heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning systems for residential, commercial, and industrial projects. The role involves engineering calculations, equipment selection, preparation of drawings and specifications, and coordination with project teams to deliver efficient and practical designs.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform cooling and heating load calculations, ventilation calculations, and equipment sizing.
• Design air-conditioning and ventilation systems, including ductwork, chilled-water piping, exhaust systems, and fresh-air systems.
• Select suitable HVAC equipment, including chillers, AHUs, FCUs, pumps, fans, and VRF/VRV systems.
• Prepare design layouts, schematics, technical specifications, equipment schedules, and bills of quantities.
• Calculate duct and pipe sizes, pressure losses, and pump and fan duties.
• Coordinate HVAC designs with architectural, structural, electrical, plumbing, and fire-protection teams.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable local codes, project specifications, and relevant standards.
• Review shop drawings, material submissions, and vendor technical proposals.
• Attend coordination meetings and conduct site visits to resolve design-related queries.
• Support energy-efficiency assessments, value engineering, and testing and commissioning activities.
• Maintain design documentation and deliver work within project schedules.

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Relevant experience in HVAC design for building services or industrial projects.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and HVAC load calculation software such as HAP or equivalent.
• Understanding of psychometrics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and HVAC controls.
• Familiarity with ASHRAE standards and applicable building and energy codes.
• Strong analytical, communication, and coordination skills.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments with attention to accuracy and deadlines.

Preferred Experience

• Design of chilled-water, VRF/VRV, and ventilation systems.
• Preparation of tender documents, technical reports, and quantity estimates.
