    About this role

Deputy Manager HR Business Partner & Operations

    Who We Are

Pinaak Aerial Systems Private Limited is a drone technology startup developing indigenous, mission-configurable unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) platforms for defence applications. We design modular drone systems with interchangeable payload capabilities for surveillance, reconnaissance and payload-delivery missions.

Pinaak Aerial Systems has collaborated with multiple Indian Army battalions to develop specialized payload-dropping drone systems and deliver mission-specific UAV solutions tailored to operational requirements.

By developing indigenous flight-control systems, secure communication technologies and modular payload architectures, we aim to strengthen India's self-reliance through secure, scalable and mission-ready drone solutions.

    About the Role

We are looking for a hands-on HR professional with strong technical recruitment capability, preferably from the defence, aerospace or UAV industry, who combines business understanding, attention to detail, sound people judgment and execution discipline.

The role will primarily focus on end-to-end recruitment of specialized engineering talent, structured onboarding, employee lifecycle management, HR documentation and day-to-day HR operations.

The person must understand the talent landscape and skill requirements of UAV, embedded systems, electronics hardware and defence technology organizations, while independently managing HR processes with accuracy, confidentiality and timely closure.

This is an execution-oriented HRBP role requiring direct ownership rather than purely advisory or coordination responsibilities.

    Key Responsibilities

    1. Recruitment and Talent Acquisition

    • Own end-to-end recruitment, from sourcing and screening to interviews, negotiations, offers and joining closure.
    • Recruit specialized talent across UAV design, embedded firmware, electronics hardware, avionics, mechanical design, testing and systems integration.
    • Understand technical roles and evaluate candidates based on actual work experience, not just CV keywords.
    • Build talent pipelines across defence, aerospace, drone and embedded product companies.
    • Partner with engineering leaders to understand technical hiring requirements and priorities.
    • Maintain recruitment trackers, hiring dashboards and timely stakeholder communication.

    2. Onboarding and Employee Lifecycle

    • Manage pre-joining, onboarding, probation, confirmation, promotions, salary revisions, transfers and exits.
    • Prepare and verify offer letters, appointment letters, employment agreements and other employee documents.
    • Coordinate background verification, document collection, induction, IT access and policy acknowledgments.
    • Maintain accurate employee records, personnel files, HRMIS data and lifecycle trackers.
    • Ensure timely completion of employee documentation, approvals and lifecycle activities.

    3. HR Operations, Documentation and Compliance

    • Manage attendance, leave records, payroll inputs and employee-related HR administration.
    • Maintain NDAs, confidentiality agreements, IP undertakings and other employment documentation.
    • Support applicable statutory compliance, HR audits and employee background verification.
    • Ensure confidentiality and controlled handling of sensitive employee and organizational information.
    • Standardize HR processes, checklists, documentation and HRMIS workflows.

    4. Employee Relations and HR Coordination

    • Address employee queries and concerns with empathy, discretion and sound judgment.
    • Coordinate employee communication, engagement, performance reviews and training activities.
    • Work closely with functional leaders to resolve HR matters and ensure timely closure.
    • Prepare HR reports covering recruitment, headcount, attrition and employee lifecycle activities.

    Required Skills

    • Strong end-to-end technical recruitment and candidate assessment capability.
    • Understanding of UAV, aerospace, defence electronics and embedded engineering talent requirements.
    • Ability to differentiate design/development engineers from testing, integration and support profiles.
    • Sound knowledge of onboarding, employee lifecycle management and HR documentation.
    • Experience with HRMIS, payroll inputs, compliance and employee record management.
    • Strong Excel, analytical, communication, negotiation and stakeholder-management skills.
    • Excellent attention to detail, confidentiality and execution discipline.

    Preferred Profile

    • Education: Engineering degree (Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, Computer Science or related field) with MBA/PGDM in HR strongly preferred.
    • Experience: 36 years in HR, with significant hands-on technical recruitment and HR operations exposure.
    • Industry: Defence, aerospace, UAV/drone technology or avionics strongly preferred. Embedded electronics, robotics and engineering product organizations may also be considered.
    • Recruitment Exposure: Proven hiring experience for embedded firmware, electronics hardware, UAV design, avionics, mechanical design or similar technical roles.
    • HR Operations: Practical experience in onboarding, employee documentation, HRMIS and employee lifecycle processes.
    • Location: Pune-based or willing to work full-time from Pune.

    Behavioural Attributes

    • Technically curious and quick to understand engineering roles.
    • Proactive, resourceful and focused on recruitment closure.
    • Meticulous, organized and process-oriented.
    • Approachable, empathetic and professionally discreet.
    • Strong ownership, follow-through and communication skills.
    • Comfortable working independently in a growing technology startup.

    What Success Will Look Like

    • Faster, higher-quality recruitment for specialized engineering positions.
    • Strong talent pipelines within relevant defence and technology industries.
    • Smooth onboarding with accurate and complete documentation.
    • Timely completion of employee lifecycle processes.
    • Reliable HRMIS records, payroll inputs and compliance documentation.
    • Independent ownership and timely closure of HR responsibilities.
