About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Head Software Development to lead the technology, product engineering, and software development function for our Track & Trace business.

The role will own the complete software lifecyclefrom technology strategy, architecture, product development, and engineering delivery to cloud deployment, security, integration, and customer implementation. The position will play a key role in building scalable technology platforms across Track & Trace, QR Code, Serialization, Data Analytics, IoT, Supply Chain Visibility, and Digital Technologies.

The incumbent will lead a team of 10 to 15+ developers, technical leads, QA, and DevOps professionals, while working closely with Product, Sales, Service, Implementation, Operations, and Business teams.

Key Responsibilities

Technology & Product Leadership

• Define the technology roadmap, software architecture, development standards, and engineering strategy aligned with business objectives.
• Lead development and enhancement of scalable web applications, APIs, dashboards, analytics platforms, and enterprise solutions.
• Drive technology modernization and adoption of relevant emerging technologies.

Software Engineering & Delivery

• Own the end-to-end SDLC covering requirements, architecture, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
• Manage multiple projects, ensuring quality, timelines, resource utilization, and delivery commitments.
• Establish strong practices for coding standards, code reviews, testing, documentation, performance, and application reliability.

Technical Architecture & Integration

• Provide technical leadership across frontend, backend, databases, APIs, cloud, DevOps, IoT, and enterprise integrations.
• Drive integration with customer ERP, production, supply-chain, IoT, QR/2D coding, serialization, and other enterprise systems.
• Ensure solutions are scalable, secure, high-performing, and capable of handling large-scale data and analytics requirements.

Cloud, DevOps & Security

• Oversee cloud architecture, CI/CD, containerization, deployment, monitoring, and production environments.
• Strong understanding of AWS/Azure/GCP, Docker, Kubernetes, Git, Jenkins/GitHub Actions/GitLab CI/CD and monitoring tools such as ELK, Grafana, and Prometheus.
• Ensure application security through secure coding, authentication, authorization, encryption, API security, and data protection practices.

Technical Team Leadership

• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing software engineering team of 10–15+ professionals.
• Establish technical competencies, performance expectations, review mechanisms, and career development plans.
• Build a culture of ownership, innovation, collaboration, quality, and continuous improvement.

Customer & Business Engagement

• Lead technical discussions with key customers, partners, system integrators, and implementation teams.
• Translate customer and business requirements into practical, scalable technology solutions.
• Support solution demonstrations, technical proposals, architecture discussions, and resolution of critical customer escalations.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Governance

• Work closely with Product, Sales, Service, Implementation, Operations, and Business teams to ensure seamless delivery.
• Establish technology KPIs, release governance, project reporting, risk management, and technical documentation.
• Provide management with regular updates on technology initiatives, project delivery, risks, resources, and performance.

Technical Expertise

Strong hands-on understanding of modern technology stacks, with expertise in one or more areas:

• Frontend: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React.js, Angular, Vue.js.
• Backend: Node.js, Python, Java/Spring Boot, .NET/ASP.NET Core; RESTful & GraphQL APIs.
• Database: MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MongoDB/DynamoDB; data modelling and query optimization.
• Cloud & DevOps: AWS/Azure/GCP, Docker, Kubernetes, Git, CI/CD, ELK, Grafana, Prometheus.
• Emerging Technologies: IoT, QR/2D coding, Serialization, Data Analytics, Blockchain/distributed-data technologies.
• Security & Compliance: API security, authentication, authorization, encryption, secure SDLC, GDPR; FDA DSCSA exposure will be an advantage.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Software Engineering, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 15–20 years of experience in software development, technology leadership, product engineering, or software architecture.
• Proven experience managing large software engineering teams and multiple technology projects.
• Strong experience in software architecture, enterprise applications, cloud, databases, APIs, DevOps, security, and system integration.
• Strong understanding of Agile/SDLC, product development, quality management, and production deployment.
