About this role
Role & responsibilities
The Head R&D / NPD will lead the organization's product innovation, research, formulation, and new product development initiatives. The role is responsible for converting consumer and market insights into commercially viable products while ensuring quality, food safety, regulatory compliance, cost competitiveness, scalability, and speed to market.
R&D and Product Innovation
- Lead the overall R&D and product innovation strategy in line with business objectives.
- Identify opportunities for new products, product extensions, reformulations, and product improvements.
- Develop innovative products based on consumer needs, market trends, competitive analysis, and emerging technologies.
- Drive the complete product development cycle from concept, formulation, trials, validation, pilot production, commercialization, and post-launch evaluation.
New Product Development
- Lead end-to-end NPD projects across multiple categories and product formats.
- Prepare product concepts, technical briefs, product specifications, and development plans.
- Conduct laboratory trials and coordinate pilot-scale and factory trials.
- Optimize formulations for taste, texture, appearance, stability, shelf life, functionality, and cost.
- Ensure successful scale-up from laboratory to commercial production.
Preferred candidate profile MSc (Food)/Micro Bio/Chemistry with
- experience in FMCG R&D, Product Development, Food Technology, or NPD.
- Proven experience in leading product development projects from concept through commercialization.
- Experience in managing cross-functional NPD teams is preferred.
- Experience in one or more relevant FMCG categories such as foods, beverages, snacks, bakery, dairy, confectionery, personal care, home care, health & wellness, or consumer products /
- Exp in North Indian Foods/ Curry masala / must
