Role & responsibilities
Quality Strategy & Governance
- Define and deploy plant-level quality strategy aligned with business goals and customer expectations.
- Own quality governance for multiple product lines and high-volume export programs.
- Drive management reviews, risk assessments, and quality KPIs at leadership level.
Customer Quality VW Group Focus
- Act as Plant Quality Representative for VW, Audi, Porsche.
- Lead customer interactions including VDA 6.3 process audits, PPM reviews, escalation meetings, and crisis management.
- Ensure compliance with VW Group Formel Q, CSR, and customer-specific requirements.
- Lead 0-km issues, field returns, and warranty risk containment (if applicable).
Product & Process Quality Excellence
- Approve and govern APQP / PPAP / PPA for all export programs.
- Ensure robust deployment of PFMEA, Control Plans, and Process Validation.
- Ensure Operation Excellence and Lean Flow in the Plant
- Drive process capability (Cp/Cpk customer targets) and SPC discipline across critical characteristics.
Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) Control
- Own plant COPQ (internal scrap, rework, customer debits, logistics claims).
- Drive year-on-year COPQ reduction targets through systemic improvements.
- Ensure quick recovery from customer debits and quality-related financial risks.
Audit & Compliance Leadership
- Ensure successful IATF 16949 surveillance and re-certification audits.
- Lead internal layered process audits and compliance to ISO 14001 / ISO 45001
- Ensure readiness for unannounced customer audits.
Metrology & Measurement Systems
- Oversee metrology lab, CMM capability, gauge lifecycle management.
- Ensure MSA compliance and digitalization of inspection data.
- Approve new measurement technologies for complex export parts.
Team Leadership & Capability Building
- Lead a multi-layer quality organization (40–70 members).
- Develop succession planning for key quality roles.
- Build strong quality ownership across Production, Engineering, SCM.
- Drive competency development on customer standards, VDA tools and problem-solving with Analytical skills like 6 Sigma, DOE
Continuous Improvement & Culture
- Champion Zero Defect, Right First Time, and First Pass Yield culture.
- Lead cross-functional 8D, Poka-Yoke, Lean, Six Sigma initiatives.
- Promote data-driven decision making and proactive risk prevention.

SKH SMC has three manufacturing facilities: SKH SMC Binola (NCR), SKH SMC Ranjangaon (near Pune) and SKH SMC Chennai. SKH SMC has been the growth center for SKHs exports to global OEMs as well as its vehicle for expanding in all major automotive hubs of India.SKH SMC Pune, having a built up area of 200,000 square feet (with an additional 40,000 sqft built up area to be added shortly) was established in FY 2008-09. Its key products include Seat Structures, Metal Fuel Tanks (PV and Two Wheelers), Bumper Brackets, ISOFIX assemblies and various sheet metal components and assemblies (low and high tensile) for various Indian and Global OEMs.Its customers include key Indian OEMs like VW India, FCA, Mahindra & Mahindra, Renault Nissan. SKH SMC Punes exports customers are the whos who of the automotive realm VW, Audi, Skoda, Ducati, Bentley.The facility boasts of the latest in manufacturing technology such as complete robotic welding for seat structures, riveting, self-piercing and clinching technology (replacing conventional welding technologies). The facility has the distinct honor of being the only Indian sheet metal forming facility delivering successful supplies to Audi worldwide. SKH SMC Binola is a 96,000 sqft production facility established in 2010-11 for catering to the groups captive requirements, other Tier-1 customers as well as a few export customers for Seat Structures, stamped and welded sheet metal components and stack pipes for automotive, off road and power generation sectors.The facilitys key domestic customers include SKH Metals, Krishna Maruti Ltd, Continental India, Mark Exhaust, Gabriel, Tenneco. It also exports exhaust parts to JCB, Hong Kong and Kohler Group, Italy.SKH SMC, Chennai was established in 2014 and is spread across 6,900 sqft manufacturing Metal Fuel Tanks for its key customer Renault Nissan. SKH SMC Chennai plant is envisioned as the growth engine for fulfilling SKHs aspirations to become the supplier of choice for Southern India based OEMs for their metal forming requirements. SKH SMC has also established its global presence by commencing an office in Germany to serve its valuable export customers. This office ensures that we are closer to the customer and understand the 'Voice of Customer' effectively.
