About a minute. You'll make an account on the way through.

    About this role

As Head of Frontend Applications, you own Equiti's entire client-facing frontend: the multi-product Flutter mobile super app, the web platform built in Qwik, the engineering teams that build them, and the standards that keep them fast, secure and reliable for clients trading real money. You set the technical direction across both platforms, you build and lead the teams across Dubai and India, and you partner with Product, Design, Trading, Payments and Engineering Leadership to ship products that customers love.

This is both a leadership and a hands-on-architecture role, and it spans two disciplines. You will not write every line, but you stay close enough to the code on mobile and on web to keep the bar high and to make the hardest technical decisions on either platform with authority.

We are realistic about depth: very few leaders are equally expert in mobile and web. We expect genuine hands-on depth in one vertical and strong, current fluency in the other, enough to set architecture, review the hard calls, and earn the trust of engineers on both sides. What is non-negotiable is the judgment to make the right decision for each platform, and the range to have led teams across both

The candidate will have responsibilities across the following functions:

    Strategy and Architecture:

    • Own the architecture and technical roadmap for Equiti's frontend across mobile and web, designed so new business lines (gold, cash equities, wealth, payments) plug in cleanly on both platforms.
    • Define and evolve a scalable, modular mobile codebase in Flutter and Dart, and a modern, high-performance web codebase in Qwik, Next.js and React a shared, multi-product "factory" that supports many products on one foundation.
    • Bring deep command of web fundamentals to the role: rendering and delivery models (SSR, streaming, static generation, Qwik's resumability), Core Web Vitals and runtime performance, state management, browser internals, accessibility, and frontend security (XSS, CSP, secure auth in the browser).
    • Set the bar for frontend non-functional standards on both platforms: performance, stability, security, observability, bundle/app size, and release quality for a real-money trading platform.
    • Drive seamless integrations across mobile and web real-time pricing and execution, in-house payments, analytics, and third-party services in partnership with platform and trading teams.

    Team and Delivery:

    • Build and lead high-performing mobile and web engineering teams across Dubai and India; hire, mentor, set goals, and grow careers on both platforms.
    • Own predictable, high-quality delivery: release cadence, CI/CD for mobile and web, code review culture, and engineering best practices across the frontend.
    • Decide the right balance of permanent engineers and specialist contractors, in line with Equiti's build-vs-buy and hiring philosophy.
    • Operate as a domain lead with real autonomy and authority to make technical decisions, hire, and ship independently within the wider engineering organisation.

    Product, Vision and Collaboration:

    • Set a proactive technical and product vision for Equiti's frontend; you shape where the app and web platform go, rather than waiting for direction to be handed down. You bring ideas to the table, anticipate what clients and the business will need next, and lead from a point of view.
    • Partner with Product, Design, Marketing, Trading and Engineering Leadership to define scope, shape the experience, and prioritise the roadmap as a peer who contributes vision, not only execution.
    • Champion in-app and on-web analytics and experimentation so decisions are driven by data on how clients actually use the products.
    • Protect client trust through a relentless focus on UX quality, accessibility, and reliability the things that make people trade with confidence.
    • Stay ahead of emerging mobile and web technologies and AI-assisted development, and bring the best of them into how the teams build.

    Requirments:

    • 12+ years in frontend engineering across mobile and/or web, including 4+ years leading and scaling engineering teams (managing engineers and/or leads).
    • Proven experience leading teams across both mobile and web, with a real understanding of the nuances, constraints and trade-offs of each platform.
    • Deep, hands-on expertise in at least one vertical: Flutter/Dart on mobile, or modern web (Qwik, Next.js, React) paired with strong, current fluency in the other. We are open to a leader who is heavier on one side, provided they can architect and make sound decisions across both.
    • Rock-solid web fundamentals: rendering models, performance and Core Web Vitals, state management, accessibility, browser behaviour, and frontend security. (We use Qwik, Next.js and React; Qwik expertise is rare and welcome, but a strong React/Next leader who can pick it up is very much in scope. )
    • Strong fundamentals in native iOS (Swift) and/or Android (Kotlin) underpinning your mobile understanding.
    • Strong command of frontend architecture, modularisation, state management, CI/CD, release management, and application performance on both platforms.
    • Experience integrating real-time data, RESTful APIs, payments and third-party SDKs into production applications.
    • A proactive, visionary leadership style: you think ahead, form a clear point of view on where the frontend should go, and drive it independently, while bringing the team and stakeholders along with you.
    • A builder's instinct paired with leadership maturity; you can architect from scratch and scale both craft and people.
    • Excellent communication; comfortable presenting technical direction to product partners and senior leadership.
    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

    Nice to Have:

    • Experience building a multi-product app, super app, or platform that hosts multiple business lines on mobile, web, or both.
    • Background in trading, brokerage, or financial markets and an understanding of real-money UX and compliance.
    • Experience scaling distributed teams across multiple geographies (e. g., UAE and India).
    • Hands-on exposure to Qwik or other resumability-first / modern rendering frameworks.
    • Familiarity with AI-assisted development tooling and how it lifts team productivity.
