Head of Engineering

We are looking for an experienced Head of Engineering to own the complete technology architecture and engineering function of our platform.

This is a senior leadership role for someone who has built and scaled production-grade systems, not an entry-level or purely managerial position. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience architecting complex products involving a combination of video, AI/ML, real-time data, mobile applications, cloud infrastructure, APIs, high-volume data, and hardware/IoT.

You will be responsible for designing and building the entire technology stack — from camera and edge infrastructure through AI, scoring, analytics, ranking, and the end-user mobile application.

Key Responsibilities

1. Own End-to-End Technology Architecture

Design, build, and evolve the complete technical architecture across:

Camera → Edge → Cloud → Video → AI → Match → Scoring → Player → Analytics → Ranking → App

You will ensure that these systems work together reliably, securely, and at scale.

1. Technology & Architecture

Define the overall technology strategy and engineering roadmap.

Select the appropriate technology stack, frameworks, databases, cloud services, and infrastructure.

Design scalable and resilient distributed systems.

Architect systems capable of handling high-volume data and real-time workloads.

Make critical build-vs-buy and technology selection decisions.

1. AI/ML & Computer Vision

Architect the AI/ML infrastructure supporting video and data processing.

Work closely with ML and computer vision teams to take models from experimentation to production.

Design pipelines for video ingestion, processing, inference, and analytics.

Ensure AI systems are scalable, observable, and production-ready.

1. Video & Edge Systems
2. Architect video capture, streaming, storage, processing, and delivery systems.
3. Design communication between cameras, edge devices, cloud infrastructure, and applications.
4. Address challenges around latency, bandwidth, reliability, and large-scale video data.
5. Mobile & APIs

Own the architecture of mobile-facing platforms and backend services.

Define robust API architecture, service boundaries, authentication, authorization, and data contracts.

Build systems that can support a growing user base and high transaction/API volumes.

1. Cloud, DevOps & Infrastructure

Own the cloud architecture and infrastructure strategy.

Establish CI/CD, observability, monitoring, logging, alerting, and incident-management practices.

Build for scalability, availability, disaster recovery, and cost efficiency.

Establish engineering standards for deployment and production operations.

1. Security & Reliability

Define application, infrastructure, API, and data-security standards.

Establish best practices for authentication, authorization, encryption, privacy, and access control.

Ensure systems are reliable, fault-tolerant, and production-ready.

1. Engineering Leadership

Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing engineering organization.

Establish engineering processes, coding standards, architecture reviews, and quality practices.

Drive a strong culture of ownership, accountability, documentation, and technical excellence.

Partner with Product, AI/ML, Hardware, Operations, and Business teams to translate product requirements into scalable technical solutions.

What We Are Looking For

Required Experience

3-5 years of software/engineering experience, with significant experience in architecture and technical leadership.

Proven experience building and launching production systems at scale.

Strong experience across multiple areas such as:

Video technology

AI/ML

Computer vision

Real-time systems

Mobile applications

Cloud infrastructure

APIs and distributed systems

High-volume data platforms

Hardware/IoT integration

Experience owning architecture across multiple technology layers rather than only a single engineering function.

Strong understanding of system design, scalability, reliability, security, and performance.

Experience hiring, mentoring, and leading engineering teams.

Preferred Industry Background

Experience in one or more of the following domains is highly desirable:

Fintech

Gaming

Large-scale consumer technology

Education

Preferred:

B.Tech / B.E. in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics, or a related engineering discipline.

M.Tech is optional.

Candidates from IITs, IIITs, NITs, BITS, or other top engineering institutions are preferred.

However, educational background and college pedigree are secondary to demonstrated architecture and production-system experience.
