Job Purpose
Drive biotech research and development initiatives to improve breeding efficiencies, strengthen crop improvement programmes, and implement innovative biotech tools and protocols through strategic planning and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Identify new research ideas and develop protocols to improve doubled haploid (DH) efficiencies and other breeding processes through strategic planning
• Liaise with breeders and the Head of Breeding to prioritise and execute biotech projects across different crops
• Develop international collaborations for marker development and utilisation, and genome sequencing initiatives
• Conduct molecular analysis and evaluate breeding lines to provide recommendations to the Breeding team
• Explore and implement new biotechnology tools for crop improvement and enhanced crop breeding efficiencies
• Drive stakeholder collaboration and influence cross-functional teams to facilitate the adoption of new technologies and drive change
• Take ownership of biotech initiatives, encourage innovation, and promote a culture of continuous improvement

Qualifications & Experience

• Relevant educational qualifications in Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, or a related field
• 69 years of relevant experience in biotechnology research, molecular analysis, marker development, genome sequencing, or crop improvement
