Role & responsibilities

• Review patient medical records and clinical documentation for accuracy and completeness.
• Assign appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes using coding systems such as ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS.
• Ensure coding complies with healthcare regulations, payer guidelines, and organizational policies.
• Verify documentation supports the assigned codes and seek clarification from healthcare providers when needed.
• Prepare and submit accurate coding information for insurance claims and reimbursement.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with privacy regulations.
• Identify and correct coding errors to minimize claim denials and payment delays.
• Stay updated with changes in coding guidelines, healthcare regulations, and payer policies.
• Work closely with physicians, billers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate documentation and coding.
• Participate in internal audits and quality assurance activities to improve coding accuracy.
• Maintain productivity and accuracy standards while meeting coding deadlines.
• Assist in resolving coding-related queries from insurance companies and healthcare providers.

Preferred candidate profile

• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
• Proficiency in ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
• Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) and medical billing software.
• Good communication and time management skills.
• Understanding of healthcare compliance and reimbursement processes.
