Role Description The Gold Loan Officer is a full-time, on-site role based in Guwahati, responsible for managing gold loan operations and ensuring a high standard of customer service. In this role, the individual will interact with customers to explain gold loan products, assess customer needs, and complete loan applications and documentation in line with bank policies and regulatory requirements. Daily activities include evaluating and verifying the purity and weight of gold ornaments, coordinating with internal teams for loan approval and disbursement, and maintaining accurate records of transactions. The Gold Loan Officer will monitor loan accounts for timely repayments, assist in follow-ups and recovery as needed, and ensure safe handling and secure storage of pledged gold. The role also involves promoting gold loan offerings in the local market, supporting branch business targets, and adhering to compliance, risk management, and audit standards.
Qualifications

• Strong customer service and relationship management skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally in person and over the phone.
• Basic financial understanding, including loan processes, documentation, interest calculation, and familiarity with banking regulations and compliance norms.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in handling cash, verifying documents, and maintaining records for gold loans and related transactions.
• Ability to assess and evaluate gold ornaments (training or prior experience in gold valuation is an advantage).
• Proficiency in using computers and banking systems; comfort with digital tools such as core banking software and standard office applications.
• Effective problem-solving and negotiation skills to address customer queries, manage repayment issues, and support recovery activities in a fair and professional manner.
• Minimum educational qualification: Graduate in any discipline; relevant experience in gold loans, retail lending, or branch banking is preferred.
• Knowledge of local language(s) and the Guwahati market, with willingness to work on-site and meet business and compliance targets
