GIS Data Specialist (Road Annotation)

Job Overview

We are seeking detail-oriented Road Annotation Specialists to contribute to a high-precision

mapping project using JOSM (OpenStreetMap Editor). The role involves annotating road networks, lane geometries, intersections, medians, sidewalks, and related transportation

features using high-resolution satellite imagery to support the creation of high-definition (HD) maps for autonomous driving and advanced navigation systems.

Key Responsibilities

1. Road Network Annotation

• Annotate road centerlines, lane edges, intersections, medians, sidewalks, driveways, and

other road infrastructure using JOSM.

• Interpret high-resolution satellite imagery.
• Ensure road connectivity.

2. Feature Tagging

• Apply project-specific tags following OSM standards and client guidelines.
• Classify road types, lane configurations, turn restrictions, crossings, and related features.

3. Data Quality Assurance

• Perform self-validation for geometry, connectivity, and tagging issues.
• Verify alignment with imagery.

4. Data Export & Delivery

• Export .osm.pbf files without uploading to OSM.
• Report mapping issues and workflow improvements.
• Meet productivity and quality targets.

Educational Qualification

Diploma in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Remote Sensing, Geomatics, Surveying, or a related geospatial discipline; OR

Bachelor's degree/ M.sc in Geography, GIS, Remote Sensing, Civil Engineering, Geomatics, Surveying, Environmental Science, or any related field; OR Freshers with relevant academic projects, internships, or GIS certification are encouraged to

apply.

Requirements

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in JOSM or similar GIS editing software.
• Understanding of GIS concepts and OSM tagging.
• Ability to interpret satellite imagery.

Soft Skills

• Strong attention to detail.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and teamwork.

Nice-to-Have

• Experience in road mapping or HD maps.
• Familiarity with QGIS/ArcGIS.
• Basic Python knowledge.

• Accurate .osm.pbf files with annotated road networks.
• High-quality annotations meeting project standards.
• Timely completion of assigned tasks.
