General Surgeon Consultant

Role & responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients requiring general surgical care.
• Perform minor, major, elective, and emergency surgical procedures as per expertise and hospital privileges.
• Conduct pre-operative assessments and ensure appropriate patient preparation.
• Provide comprehensive post-operative care and monitor recovery.
• Manage surgical emergencies and coordinate with the Emergency, ICU, and other relevant departments.
• Review diagnostic reports and determine appropriate treatment plans.
• Maintain accurate clinical records, operative notes, and discharge summaries.
• Counsel patients and their attendants regarding diagnosis, treatment, procedures, risks, and follow-up care.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure effective patient management.
• Follow hospital protocols, infection-control practices, surgical safety standards, and applicable medical guidelines.
• Participate in clinical audits, quality-improvement initiatives, and CME/academic activities.
