General Manager - Talent Acquisition

About the Role

Karamtara Engineering Ltd is seeking an experienced and strategic General Manager – Talent Acquisition to lead the end-to-end talent acquisition function for the organisation. Based at the Corporate Office in Worli, Mumbai, the incumbent will be responsible for designing and executing talent acquisition strategies to attract, engage, and hire high-caliber talent across corporate functions as well as manufacturing plant locations, spanning engineering, operations, supply chain, quality, projects, sales, and support functions.

The role requires a strong understanding of the heavy engineering and manufacturing sector, workforce planning, leadership hiring, employer branding, campus engagement, and recruitment process optimization, along with the ability to manage hiring seamlessly across both corporate and plant environments.

Key Responsibilities

Talent Acquisition Strategy

• Develop and implement organization-wide talent acquisition strategies aligned with business growth plans, covering both corporate office and manufacturing plant requirements
• Partner with business leaders to forecast manpower requirements and develop hiring plans for corporate functions and plant operations alike
• Build a robust talent pipeline for critical, leadership, and plant-critical positions
• Drive workforce planning initiatives to ensure timely availability of talent across all locations

Recruitment Leadership

• Lead end-to-end recruitment for corporate, plant, engineering, technical, managerial, and leadership roles
• Oversee hiring across manufacturing operations, maintenance, projects, quality, supply chain, commercial, sales, and corporate support functions
• Manage senior-level and executive recruitment mandates for both corporate and plant leadership positions
• Ensure achievement of hiring targets within defined timelines and budgets across all manufacturing plants and the corporate office

Stakeholder Management

• Partner closely with Business Heads, Plant Heads, Functional Leaders, and HR across locations
• Act as a strategic advisor on talent market trends, compensation benchmarks, and sourcing strategies
• Provide regular hiring analytics and updates to senior leadership

Employer Branding & Talent Attraction

• Strengthen employer branding initiatives to position Karamtara Engineering as an employer of choice in the engineering and manufacturing space
• Develop relationships with engineering institutes, management schools, and technical universities
• Lead campus hiring, apprenticeship programmes, and graduate trainee recruitment initiatives

Recruitment Operations

• Drive continuous improvement in recruitment processes, systems, and candidate experience across corporate and plant locations
• Establish and monitor recruitment KPIs, including Time-to-Hire, Cost-per-Hire, Offer-to-Join Ratio, Quality of Hire, and Diversity Hiring Metrics
• Implement best practices in talent acquisition, assessment, and selection methodologies

Vendor & Agency Management

• Manage relationships with recruitment consultants, head-hunters, and staffing partners
• Negotiate commercial terms and monitor vendor performance
• Create preferred vendor frameworks for specialized and plant-level hiring requirements

Talent Intelligence & Analytics

• Monitor labour market trends, industry talent availability, and competitor hiring practices in the engineering and manufacturing sector
• Leverage recruitment analytics to improve hiring effectiveness
• Present periodic MIS and dashboards to leadership teams

Team Leadership

• Lead, mentor, and develop the Talent Acquisition team across corporate and plant locations
• Build a high-performance recruitment function focused on quality, speed, and stakeholder satisfaction
• Foster a culture of continuous learning and innovation within the TA team

Desired Candidate Profile Education

• MBA / PGDM in Human Resources from a reputed institute
• Additional certifications in Talent Acquisition, Employer Branding, or HR Analytics will be an advantage.

Experience

• 18 – 20 years of progressive HR experience, with a significant part of this in Talent Acquisition
• Substantial experience in heavy engineering / manufacturing organisations, such as Engineering, Industrial Products, Auto Components, EPC, Metals, or Process Industries
• Proven track record of handling large-scale and leadership hiring assignments across both corporate and manufacturing plant environments.
• Experience in multi-location recruitment, with demonstrated ability to manage plant-level as well as corporate hiring simultaneously.
