General Manager- Furniture Production

Responsibilities

• Oversee all furniture production operations, including sales, inventory management, merchandising, and customer experience.
• Lead, train, supervise, and motivate production staff to deliver high performance.
• Ensure exceptional customer service and effective resolution of client inquiries and complaints.
• Manage stock levels, ordering, displays, and coordination with suppliers and warehouses.
• Monitor financial performance, budgets, expenses, and sales reporting.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and health & safety standards.
• Prepare and submit regular sales, operational, and management reports
• Interpret and confirm furniture job specifications

Required Skill Set

• Good understanding of inventory control and retail systems. Computer literacy, including POS systems and Microsoft Office applications.
• Demonstrate knowledge of and use adhesives in furniture making
• Operate a dimension saw to produce square profiled furniture components
• Use basic portable power tools for furniture making
• Set and operate a basic planning machine to produce simple wooden furniture components
• Construct a furniture car case
• Set and operate a single boring machine to bore holes in furniture components
• Construct free-hand drawings for use in furniture making
• Use CAM software to develop and test a program for a CNC machine to produce furniture components
• Note: All academic and professional qualifications must be verified by the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA).

Qualification

• Bachelors degree in Business Management, Marketing, Sales, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years experience in production management, furniture manufacturing preferably in office furniture or home dcor.
• Proven track record in leadership and production operations.
• Strong people management, coaching, and leadership skills.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and customer service abilities
