    Position Summary

Solar Turbines is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Hydro-Mechanical Accessory Systems Engineer to support the Package & Systems Development and New Product Introduction (NPI) India team. The engineer will lead the design, development, integration, and implementation of hydro-mechanical accessory systems for industrial gas turbine packages. The role works across electrical, controls, manufacturing, and project teams to deliver safe, reliable, serviceable, and cost-effective solutions that meet technical specifications, customer requirements, industry standards, and company procedures.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Lead the design and development of hydro-mechanical accessory systems for industrial gas turbine packages, from concept through production release.
    • Perform system definition, component selection, sizing, and design calculations for hydraulic equipment and related mechanical devices.
    • Develop and maintain design specifications, process and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), schematics, engineering drawings, bills of material, design calculations, and test reports.
    • Participate in NPI activities including concept evaluation, design reviews, prototyping, testing, validation, production readiness, and technical issue resolution.
    • Collaborate with electrical, controls, packaging, manufacturing, sourcing, quality, service, and project engineering teams to ensure effective system integration.
    • Conduct design and architecture reviews, evaluate alternatives, document decisions, and ensure compliance with technical specifications and established design standards.
    • Provide technical support during package build, installation, commissioning, field operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
    • Identify and implement improvements that enhance product performance, reliability, manufacturability, maintainability, serviceability, and cost competitiveness.
    • Assess design risks and support reliability and safety compliance activities, including structured root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
    • Manage multiple concurrent assignments while meeting project milestones, quality expectations, and team priorities.

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
    • Minimum 6+ years of relevant experience in hydro-mechanical, hydraulic, fluid, or mechanical accessory system design.
    • Experience with industrial gas turbine packages, package systems, or comparable rotating equipment applications.
    • Hands-on experience in the design and sizing of hydraulic equipment or devices.
    • Experience with system design, reliability analysis, design validation, and safety compliance.
    • Ability to prepare and interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, schematics, specifications, and technical reports.
    • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling and design tools; Creo experience is preferred.
    • Experience developing or interpreting engineering schematics; Promis.e V8i experience is an advantage.
    • Experience working in Agile or Scrum engineering teams.
    • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, supplier collaboration, package installation, commissioning, and field service support.
    • Demonstrated ability to translate customer and product requirements into practical engineering solutions.

    Key Skills and Competencies

    • Technical Excellence - Applies sound engineering fundamentals, standards, and current technologies to resolve system and product challenges.
    • Design Engineering - Develops concepts, creates or modifies designs, participates in reviews, and documents design decisions.
    • Product Development - Uses 2D schematics and 3D models to evaluate concepts; supports prototypes, tests, and production solutions.
    • Analytical Thinking - Defines problems, compares alternatives, interprets data, and applies structured problem-solving methods.
    • Decision Making - Organizes relevant information, identifies risks and benefits, prioritizes concerns, and recommends balanced solutions.
    • Execution - Plans work, adapts to changing priorities, and delivers high-quality results across multiple concurrent activities.
    • Collaboration - Communicates effectively with global, cross-functional stakeholders and contributes constructive technical feedback.

    Success Profile

The successful candidate combines strong hydro-mechanical design fundamentals with practical gas turbine package knowledge, disciplined engineering documentation, structured problem solving, and the ability to work effectively across global and cross-functional teams. The role requires ownership from concept through validation and field support, with a consistent focus on safety, quality, reliability, serviceability, and customer value.

This position requires working onsite five days a week.
