Garment Technician

Role & responsibilities

• Interpret technical packs, sketches, specifications, measurements, and construction details.
• Develop and review garment construction methods and technical specifications.
• Conduct garment fitting sessions and identify fit, construction, and measurement issues.
• Prepare and maintain accurate measurement charts and technical documents.
• Work closely with designers, pattern makers, merchandisers, production, quality, and suppliers.
• Evaluate samples, prototypes, and pre-production garments.
• Identify technical problems and recommend practical solutions.
• Conduct garment measurements and provide fit comments and corrections.
• Ensure construction details are suitable for bulk production.
• Support sample development from first prototype through pre-production approval.
• Check workmanship, stitching, seams, trims, components, and finishing.
• Monitor garment quality against approved samples and specifications.
• Communicate technical changes clearly to internal teams and suppliers.
• Maintain records of fit comments, sample approvals, technical changes, and revisions.
• Support improvement in garment construction, quality, and production efficiency.
