About this role
Company Description The Crafture is a bespoke furniture studio rooted in Indian craftsmanship, where every piece is custom-made rather than mass-produced. Working with solid wood, natural materials, and skilled artisans, the studio designs furniture tailored to each client’s space, lifestyle, and vision. From concept to completion, Crafture focuses on details such as proportions, finishes, fabrics, and functionality to create cohesive, thoughtfully designed homes. Based out of a workshop in Gurugram, clients are invited to experience the making process firsthand and see how furniture is shaped. The Crafture is dedicated to crafting enduring spaces through purposeful, high-quality furniture design.
Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Furniture Designer role located in Gurugram. The Furniture Designer will develop concepts for bespoke furniture pieces, translating client requirements and spatial constraints into detailed design proposals and technical drawings. Day-to-day responsibilities include selecting materials and finishes, collaborating with carpenters and other craftspeople, and overseeing prototypes and production to ensure design integrity, comfort, and durability. The role involves working closely with clients and the internal team to refine design details, maintain quality standards, and ensure each piece aligns with The Crafture’s aesthetic and functional goals. The Furniture Designer will also contribute to the design of cohesive collections and spaces, supporting ongoing improvement of design processes within the studio.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in Furniture Design and Product Design, with the ability to create detailed, functional, and aesthetically balanced concepts.
- Hands-on understanding of Carpentry and Furniture construction methods to collaborate effectively with workshop teams.
- Knowledge of Interior Design principles to ensure furniture integrates seamlessly within a variety of spaces.
- Proficiency in design and visualization tools (e.g., CAD software, 3D modeling, hand sketching) to communicate ideas clearly.
- Relevant education in Industrial Design, Furniture Design, Interior Design, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Attention to detail, strong spatial and material sensibility, and commitment to craftsmanship and quality.
- Ability to work on-site in Gurugram, manage multiple projects, and collaborate with cross-functional teams and clients.
- Experience with solid wood, natural materials, and custom/bespoke furniture projects is highly beneficial.
