About The Role We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Software Development Engineer (SDE 2/3) and Instructor specializing in Full Stack Development to join our Computer Science Department at Newton School. This role is ideally suited for professionals with over four years of industry experience who possess a passion for software development and a desire to mentor aspiring developers. The position offers a unique blend of technical excellence and academic responsibility, involving delivering engaging lectures, conducting coding labs, and guiding students through the process of building real-world applications. The successful candidate will play a vital role in shaping the next generation of software engineers by providing hands-on instruction, mentorship, and industry insights, thereby bridging the gap between academic learning and practical application.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 4+ years of professional experience as a Software Developer or Engineer in application programming.
• Strong proficiency in at least one programming language such as JavaScript, Java, Python, or C/C++.
• In-depth understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.
• Familiarity with application frameworks, APIs, and deployment processes.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts in an engaging and understandable manner to students.
• Flexibility and willingness to teach foundational computer science subjects as needed.

Responsibilities

• Course Development & Delivery: Design, develop, and deliver modules on Full Stack Development, covering topics such as OOPs, Data Structures, Algorithms, and Software Engineering concepts.
• Hands-on Labs: Conduct practical coding sessions in languages like JavaScript, SQL, Node.js, and Python to develop students’ applied skills.
• Student Mentorship: Guide students through their projects, assist with debugging, promote best coding practices, and support application design efforts.
• Collaboration: Work closely with senior faculty, industry partners, and curriculum teams to ensure course content remains aligned with current industry standards and technological advancements.
• Student Success: Evaluate assignments, provide constructive feedback, and help students prepare for job placements by enhancing their technical and soft skills.
• Innovation: Encourage students to utilize modern frameworks and tools to solve real-world problems creatively and efficiently.
