Full-Stack Product Developer with AI Integration

About the Role We are looking for a hands-on Full-Stack Product Developer to take ownership of our growing construction project management platform. Our React Native mobile app and React web portal are already built and being used internally. The backend is built with Node.js, with data stored in MongoDB, and the platform is hosted on AWS. We are now preparing for public launch, ongoing feature development, and AI-powered upgrades. This is not a “just write code” role. You will become the technical owner working directly with the business owner. You will inherit a working codebase, maintain stability, fix bugs, ship new features, improve the user experience, support the current mobile/web platform, and gradually take over from the current development team. We are also adding AI features into the platform, so we need someone who can integrate AI APIs into real production workflows, not just write prompts.

What You’ll Work On You will help maintain, improve, and expand the platform across mobile, web, backend, database, cloud, and AI. Mobile App • Maintain and extend the React Native mobile app for iOS and Android • Fix bugs and improve performance • Improve forms, navigation, file uploads, reports, and user flows • Support future app updates and production releases Web Portal • Maintain and improve the React web portal • Build dashboards, tables, filters, forms, admin screens, and reporting views • Convert mobile workflows into clean desktop/web workflows • Improve usability for office/admin users Backend/API • Maintain and improve the Node.js backend API • Build and test REST APIs • Work with user IDs, company IDs, job IDs, report IDs, and permissions • Improve validation, error handling, security, and reliability • Test APIs using Postman or similar tools Database • Manage MongoDB/Mongoose schemas • Work with reports, expenses, mileage, invoices, jobs, users, companies, schedules, and uploaded files • Optimize queries and improve database structure as the platform grows AWS/Deployment • Deploy updates to AWS-hosted production environment • Work with EC2, S3, Ubuntu servers, PM2, environment variables, and basic server maintenance • Debug production issues and improve system reliability • Help improve deployment workflow over time AI Features • Integrate AI APIs such as OpenAI, Anthropic, or similar • Build AI-generated daily reports and weekly reports • Build AI assistant/chat features inside the platform • Build AI smart search across reports, jobs, expenses, invoices, and uploaded documents • Build receipt/invoice extraction from images • Build voice-to-report or speech-to-report workflows • Generate job summaries, project updates, safety notes, and dashboard insights • Use structured AI outputs so AI responses can safely map into database fields • Keep AI API keys secure on the backend, not inside the mobile app or frontend • Add AI logging, error handling, privacy controls, and cost controls

Must-Have Skills React Native • Minimum 3 years building production apps for iOS and Android • Experience with forms, navigation, camera/gallery access, uploads, API integration, and debugging React Web • Comfortable with modern React • Hooks, context, component structure, state management, API integration • Experience building dashboards, tables, forms, and admin-style web portals Node.js Backend • Express.js or similar framework • REST API design • Async/await patterns • Middleware, validation, authentication, and error handling • Ability to understand and improve an existing backend MongoDB • Mongoose ODM • Schema design • Query optimization • CRUD operations • User/company/project-level data structure AWS Basics • EC2 • S3 • Ubuntu server deployment • PM2 • Environment variables • Basic production debugging AI API Integration • Experience integrating OpenAI, Anthropic, or similar AI APIs into real applications • Prompt engineering for business workflows • Structured JSON responses from AI • AI-powered search, summaries, extraction, or assistant features • Understanding of privacy, API key security, and AI cost control Other Required Skills • Git/GitHub • Branching and pull requests • Postman or similar API testing tools • File/image uploads • PDF/report generation experience • Clear written English • Ability to explain technical issues to a non-technical business owner • Strong documentation habits

Nice to Have • TypeScript experience • Next.js experience • CI/CD setup with GitHub Actions, AWS CodeDeploy, or similar • Push notification implementation using FCM/APNs • Payment integration with Stripe • Docker basics • Experience with construction, project management, field reporting, invoicing, or operations software • Experience with OCR, document extraction, speech-to-text, or AI image analysis • Experience with role-based access control and multi-company SaaS platforms

Engagement Details • Type: Full time • Hours: Starting at 40 hours per week, • Location: Remote • Time Zone: Must have overlap with Eastern Time business hours • Duration: Long-term, minimum 6-month initial commitment • Reporting: Directly to the business owner • Code Ownership: All code is work-for-hire and owned by the company
