About this role
Location: Hyderabad
Work Mode: 05 Days WFO
Shift: Overlap with US Eastern/Central business hours (exact timings to be confirmed)
Employment Type: Permanent
Payroll: Direct Payroll of WalkingTree Technologies
Walkingtree is hiring a Full Stack Lead (Java and Angular) to own the design and delivery of enterprise web platforms built on Java microservices and Angular microfrontends.
You will lead a team of full stack engineers, act as the technical voice to US-based stakeholders and customer teams, and stay hands-on with coding, reviews, and architecture.
The platforms you will work on are data-heavy, workflow-driven products used by operations and planning teams, including real-time dashboards, rule-based decision engines, integrations with ERP and telematics systems, and event-driven backends.
Domain knowledge will be picked up on the job; engineering depth and customer-facing maturity are what we hire for.
Key Responsibilities
1. Technical Leadership
- Own the architecture of Java (Spring Boot) microservices and Angular microfrontends, including service boundaries, API contracts, shell and remote composition, and shared design systems.
- Lead design reviews, code reviews, and technical decision-making; establish coding standards, testing strategies, and the definition of done.
- Stay hands-on by building critical components, prototyping solutions, and unblocking the team on complex technical problems.
- Drive non-functional quality, including performance, security, observability, resilience, and scalability.
2. Delivery and Team Management
- Plan sprints, break down epics, estimate work with the team, and commit to achievable delivery dates.
- Mentor engineers, conduct hiring interviews, and develop senior developers into future technical leads.
- Own CI/CD, release readiness, and production support practices in collaboration with the DevOps team.
- Track risks, dependencies, and technical debt, and raise them proactively.
3. Customer and US Stakeholder Engagement
- Work directly with US-based counterparts, including product owners, architects, and program managers, during regular working-hour overlaps.
- Participate in daily or weekly calls, demos, and sprint reviews.
- Collaborate directly with customer team members to gather requirements, clarify integration points, review designs, and resolve issues.
- Present architecture, progress, and trade-offs clearly to technical and business audiences.
- Communicate status, blockers, and change requests through clear, concise written updates that US stakeholders can act on without requiring follow-up calls.
Mandatory Requirements
Candidates who do not meet the first three requirements will not be shortlisted.
- Direct US Counterpart Exposure: At least 3 years of working regularly with US-based clients, product owners, or architects, including calls during US time-zone overlap, demos, and written status communication. Candidates must be able to describe specific engagements.
- Direct Customer Team Collaboration: Proven experience working directly with customer engineering, QA, and business teams on requirements, integrations, UAT, and production issuesnot solely through a project manager.
- Microservices and Microfrontends: Hands-on production experience delivering Spring Boot microservices and Angular microfrontends as a standard approach to application development, rather than a recent experiment.
- Total Experience: 914 years of total software development experience, with at least 5 years in Java and 4 years in Angular (version 12 or later).
- Team Leadership: At least 3 years of experience leading a team of 5 or more engineers, with ownership of design, delivery, and mentoring.
- Communication: Strong spoken and written English suitable for customer-facing and executive-level communication.
