About this role
Company Description: Metric Tree Labs is a global partner for AI-led transformation and scalable offshore technology teams. The company specializes in building, operating, and scaling remote technology teams from India for startups and enterprises across the world.
About The Role We're looking for someone who can do more than write good code. You'll work as an embedded member of an early-stage startup team collaborating directly with the CEO ( Harvard Business School, Ex-Microsoft, Ex-Amazon) and CTO on a day-to-day basis. This is a hands-on engineering role with significant exposure to product thinking and technical decision-making. Beyond building features, you'll help shape how ideas are translated into practical, scalable solutions and contribute to discussions around priorities, trade-offs, and execution. If you prefer fully scoped tickets and well-defined sign-off chains to do your best work, this may not be the right fit. If you enjoy working in fast-moving environments, are comfortable with ambiguity, and like being close to product and engineering discussions, we'd love to hear from you.
What You'll Own
- Full end-to-end feature development — from understanding requirements to shipping, measuring, and iterating
- Product and technical discussions with the CEO and CTO, helping turn ideas into prioritized, deliverable features
- Architecture decisions that balance speed, scalability, and business priorities
- Scalable backend services and APIs on AWS Lambda (Python)
- Responsive, high-performance frontend applications in React.js
- Cloud infrastructure using AWS CDK
- Database design across PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and DynamoDB
- Third-party API integrations and authentication (JWT, OAuth)
- Code quality, deployment workflows, and engineering best practices
- Thoughtful technical feedback and recommendations on feature prioritization
The Product Mindset We're Looking For
- You ask why before how
- You can balance user needs with technical constraints
- You are comfortable making trade-offs between speed, scalability, and long-term maintainability
- You care about outcomes and whether what you build actually solves the problem
- You can take ambiguous inputs from non-technical stakeholders and convert them into clear execution plans
Technical Skills
- React.js, JavaScript (ES6+), HTML, CSS
- Backend development with modern frameworks
- AWS Lambda (Python), AWS CDK
- REST APIs and microservices architecture
- PostgreSQL, MongoDB, DynamoDB
- JWT and OAuth authentication
- Git and modern development workflows
Who You Are You've likely worked in environments where engineering teams were distant from product conversations and business context. You're looking for an opportunity where your judgment is valued, your ideas are heard, and you can work closely with decision-makers while building meaningful products. You're comfortable not having all the answers, but you're not comfortable shipping something you don't believe in.
Why This Role
- Direct collaboration with experienced founders and technical leaders
- Exposure to product strategy, architecture discussions, and early-stage execution
- Opportunity to work closely with a high-caliber team in a fast-moving startup environment
- Ability to make a visible impact through ownership of features and technical decisions
