About this role
Full Stack Developer — XBE Platform Remote · Full-time
About XBE XBE is the system of action for businesses that move ready-mix, asphalt, aggregates, and cement — scheduling jobs, dispatching trucks, pricing and quoting work, tracking materials and inventory, managing rate agreements with haulers and customers, and keeping the financial picture and compliance straight. One system instead of a dispatcher’s whiteboard, a stack of paper tickets, and three tools that don’t talk to each other. We’ve tracked 475 million tons of material and $3B in trucking spend for operators who used to run this business on gut feel. Effectiveness first, efficiency second. Accountability as a force multiplier, not a burden. That’s how a small, fully remote, AI-first engineering team ships real software for an industry that builds the physical world.
The role We are hiring Full Stack Developers to build, extend, and harden the product surfaces our customers run their business on. You will own features end to end — from problem framing and data modeling through API, UI, tests, and rollout — and you will ship work you can stand behind. We hire on outcomes, not on a specific stack. No particular language, framework, or database is a prerequisite — we care whether you can read a schema, trace a request through the system, and ship reliable code in whatever the feature requires.
What you will own
- End-to-end delivery of customer-facing features across backend, frontend, and data layers.
- Data modeling, schema design, and query performance — indexes, execution plans, migrations.
- API design and integration — clean contracts between services and customer-facing applications.
- Frontend implementation that actually works for operators in the field — performance, accessibility, and unambiguous UX.
- Test discipline — unit, integration, and the regression coverage that lets us deploy without holding our breath.
- Operational fitness — observability, error tracking, and the small fixes that prevent the next incident.
You are a fit if
- You have shipped production full-stack features and can talk through real tradeoffs you made — not just the happy path.
- You read a slow query plan and have an instinct for where the index belongs.
- You debug across layers — browser, API, ORM, database — without getting lost.
- You are comfortable picking up an unfamiliar language or framework with AI assistance and shipping in it.
- You close the loop: reproduce, isolate, fix, validate, and prevent recurrence.
- Bias for action, high standards, low ego.
Nice to have
- Polyglot history — meaningful contributions across multiple stacks in a single product.
- Real production experience with a relational database (any of Postgres, SQL Server, MySQL, or similar) — we care about the judgment, not the brand.
- Experience integrating LLMs, vector search, or AI agents into customer-facing features.
- Background in construction-tech, logistics, field-service, or any operations-heavy domain.
How we build (AI-first, but not careless)
- Coding agents write a lot of the code; humans own the outcomes.
- You verify with tests, instrumentation, and runtime behavior — not trust.
- Good specs, constraints, and eval criteria are part of the engineering work, not separate from it.
What success looks like
- You ship meaningful features quickly without breaking production.
- You raise quality through tests, guardrails, and better operational visibility.
- You reduce time-to-resolution during incidents and prevent repeats.
- You make the team faster by improving how we use agents and validate their output.
What you will get
- Work from anywhere, with significant overlap with the US morning shift. We expect real-time availability when production or time-sensitive operational windows demand it.
- Stability and long-term runway — an established, growing company with a steady platform and clear priorities.
- High ownership, high trust — clear outcomes, minimal bureaucracy, no micromanagement.
- AI-forward engineering culture — we expect you to use AI coding agents as a force multiplier for investigation, design, implementation, and operational playbooks.
- Real technical growth — you will level up on architecture, quality, reliability, and AI-native workflows alongside engineers who care about the craft.
