Freelance / Full-Time English Transcriber

We are seeking a detail-oriented, accurate, and reliable English Transcriber to join our growing operations team. In this role, you will listen to audio and video recordings and convert them into clear, properly formatted written text. The ideal candidate possesses exceptional listening skills, strong English grammar, high typing accuracy, and a proven track record of consistently meeting tight project deadlines.

Role & responsibilities

Core Transcription & Proofreading

• Accurate Transcription: Listen to audio/video recordings and transcribe them with high precision, strictly adhering to company style guidelines (clean verbatim or strict verbatim).
• Editing & Proofreading: Review, edit, and proofread generated transcripts to ensure flawless grammar, spelling, punctuation, and formatting.
• Speaker & Timestamp Management: Correctly identify multiple speakers, distinguish technical or industry-specific terminology, and apply appropriate timestamps as required by project rules.

Research & Quality Assurance

• Context Verification: Perform independent research to verify the spelling of proper nouns, technical jargon, acronyms, and geographical location names.
• Audio Flagging: Identify and flag low-quality audio, inaudible sections, or missing context using the companys standardized notation tags.
• Self-Quality Checks: Conduct thorough self-quality audits prior to file submission to ensure complete compliance with client specifications.

Operations & Data Security

• Turnaround Time (TAT): Consistently meet or exceed project deadlines and delivery schedules.
• Proactive Communication: Communicate clearly with project managers regarding file statuses, contextual questions, or potential delivery bottlenecks.
• Data Protection: Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to corporate data protection and privacy standards for all assigned client files.

Preferred candidate profile

• Experience Profile: 14 years of professional experience, ideally within a transcription, captioning, or localization ecosystem.
• Language Skills: Near-native or exceptional command of written and spoken English with a deep understanding of grammar, nuances, and diverse accents.
• Technical Efficiency: High typing speed (WPM) with exceptional accuracy. Familiarity with transcription tools, foot pedals, text expanders, and audio enhancement software is a major plus.
• Attention to Detail: Strong internet research skills to quickly cross-check names and terms.
• Work Dynamics: Ability to work independently, manage a remote schedule, and stay highly focused under strict deadlines.
