Freelance Embedded Linux / NVIDIA Jetson Engineer

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Embedded Linux / NVIDIA Jetson Engineer for a part-time remote project supporting a customer's homegrown edge-box tester platform.

You will work under the guidance of the customer's Software team and collaborate with the customer Hardware team to perform OS bring-up, hardware interface validation, platform configuration, and tester-client integration.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform OS bring-up and establish a stable baseline software environment on the NVIDIA Jetson platform.
• Work with NVIDIA JetPack 39 and configure the required software environment.
• Configure and validate hardware interfaces according to the tester schematic:
• I2C
• GPIO
• UART
• GMSL
• Configure and validate 4K video output with DSC enablement.
• Probe I2C devices on the monitor and provide APIs for the tester client.
• Probe SPI Flash and support programming of Mstar Flash for 32 and 42 displays.
• Configure and validate Bluetooth based on tester-client requirements.
• Work with and validate the CTP interface.
• Develop GPIO ON/OFF APIs for the tester application.
• Define and implement the software interface between the Jetson platform and tester client application.
• Ensure software interfaces are robust, maintainable, and well documented.
• Support automated system initialization during power-up.
• Implement/support automated GMSL reinitialization without rebooting the Jetson platform.
• Identify and manage required software licenses, including OS, third-party packages, and development tools.
• Troubleshoot issues jointly with Software and Hardware teams.

Required Skills

• Strong experience with Embedded Linux and Linux-based embedded platforms.
• Hands-on experience with NVIDIA Jetson platforms and JetPack.
• Experience with BSP / OS bring-up and hardware interface validation.
• Strong knowledge of:
• I2C
• GPIO
• UART
• SPI / SPI Flash
• GMSL
• Experience developing software interfaces/APIs for embedded tester applications.
• Experience with Linux system initialization and hardware reinitialization.
• Ability to debug hardware/software integration issues.
• Experience working with hardware schematics and validating interfaces against specifications.
• Good understanding of embedded software development and troubleshooting.

Good to Have

• Experience with 4K video, DSC, display interfaces, or monitor/display testing.
• Experience with Mstar Flash programming.
• Experience with CTP/touch interfaces.
• Bluetooth integration experience.
• Experience with automated test systems or tester-client applications.
• Experience managing open-source/third-party software licenses.

Ideal Candidate

An engineer who can independently handle Jetson/Linux bring-up, low-level hardware interface configuration, debugging, API development, and hardware-software integration while collaborating remotely with customer Software and Hardware teams.
