Founding Engineer

Role Description You'll own Wizzme's entire frontend, web app and native mobile, and turn finished, high-fidelity designs into surfaces that feel effortless, fast, and alive. Our design language and hi-fi designs come from a dedicated designer; your job is to bring them to life at the highest bar of polish, then keep them evolving as fast as we learn from users. You'll work directly with the founders, and will contribute to the company's journey as you go along. As our first engineering hire, you set the standard for what "good" means in our frontend: in craft, in code, and in speed. This is an execution-first role with complete ownership. For someone who brings strong product and architectural ideas, there's genuine room for it to grow into a founding-level role.

What You'll Own

• Polished surfaces: Build the React web app and Android/iOS apps to a pixel-faithful, performant, delightful standard from layout to micro-interactions.
• Real-time, AI-native experiences. Streaming agent responses, real-time voice, WebRTC calling, and low-latency, collaborative UI interactions.
• The full Frontend codebase. Architecture, component systems, state, performance, etc. ownership is end-to-end and the job is to keep it clean as it scales.
• Fast iteration on user feedback. Working closely with founders and designers, your role is to get solutions based on user-feedback rapidly into the product without sacrificing quality.
• The frontend↔backend boundary. Own the API/BFF layer, reason fluently about backend tradeoffs, and partner closely so frontend capability and backend capability advance together.
• Taste as a check on craft. Implement the design partner's work faithfully, polish relentlessly, and push back when something's off. You don't need to design from scratch, but you know when a build doesn't do a design justice, and you iterate it.

Who We're Looking For Must-haves

• Expert React + TypeScript , with deep frontend craft: performance, state, animation, the details that separate "fine" from "exceptional."
• Proven, shipped mobile. You've put polished, production mobile apps in users' hands. React Native / Expo strongly preferred. One codebase and modular management and serving web, iOS, and Android is exactly the leverage we want, though deep native iOS/Android experience is also valued.
• Real-time experience :You've built streaming UIs, WebRTC, or other low-latency, real-time surfaces and know where the hard parts are.
• Full-stack literacy: You're comfortable across the API boundary, can reason about backend tradeoffs, and are eager to learn and contribute beyond the frontend.
• High visual taste: Pixel-level obsession - you can tell when an implementation is subtly wrong, and you won't ship until it's right.
• Fast to ship, fast to learn: Strong bias to action; you close loops quickly without sacrificing quality.
• Clear communicator: You work tightly with founders, write clearly, and keep things moving.

Nice-to-haves

• Fluency with AI-assisted development (Claude, Cursor) and a genuinely AI-native instinct for fast product development.
• Experience with a modern web stack (Tailwind, Next.js) and with design tools (Figma) for building from specs.
• You've owned a frontend codebase as the sole or lead engineer before.

Logistics

• Location: Bangalore (in-person preferred). Open to hybrid or remote within India. India-based candidates only.
• Compensation: Competitive salary. Backed by a tier-1 VC.
• Team: You'll be our first engineering hire, working directly with the founders.
