Founding Engineer (Backend)

We are looking for a Founding Engineer - Backend with 4-6 years of experience to join our core engineering team in Bangalore. As an early member of the engineering team, you will work closely with the founders and take significant ownership of building the backend architecture and core product systems from scratch. This is a high-impact role for an engineer who enjoys 01 product development, solving complex technical problems, working with ambiguity, and taking end-to-end ownership.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable and reliable backend systems from the ground up.
• Own backend architecture, technical design, development, testing, and deployment.
• Build robust APIs, services, and core platform components.
• Work closely with founders and product teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Make key decisions around system architecture, technology selection, scalability, and performance.
• Develop solutions for complex problems involving data, distributed systems, and AI-powered applications.
• Build and integrate backend services that support AI/ML and generative AI use cases.
• Establish engineering best practices around code quality, testing, observability, deployment, and reliability.
• Take end-to-end ownership of projects from design and development through production.
• Contribute to building the engineering culture, technical standards, and foundation of the organization.

Requirements:

• 4-6 years of professional experience in backend/software engineering.
• Strong programming experience in one or more backend languages such as Python, Java, Go, or Node.js .
• Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, object-oriented programming, and software engineering fundamentals.
• Hands-on experience designing and developing REST APIs and backend services.
• Strong understanding of database concepts and SQL.
• Experience with microservices, distributed systems, or scalable backend architectures.
• Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Good understanding of software development practices, including Git, testing, CI/CD, and deployment.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, early-stage startup environment.

Good to Have:

• Experience working with AI/ML, LLMs, generative AI, or AI-powered products.
• Experience building products from 01
• Experience working in an early-stage startup or as one of the initial engineering hires.
• Exposure to event-driven architectures, queues, caching, or distributed systems.
• Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker/Kubernetes.
• Strong product mindset and ability to understand business requirements beyond technical implementation.
