About this role
As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you will work at the intersection of AI, engineering, product, and customers. You will understand real business workflows and turn ambiguous problems into working AI products using AI models, APIs, databases, MCP, and integrations. You won't just build features in isolation. You will take solutions from problem prototype integration to deployment and real-world usage.
Responsibilities:
- Build AI agents, workflows, APIs, and integrations for real enterprise use cases.
- Understand customer workflows and translate business problems into technical solutions.
- Take ambiguous requirements and turn them into working, deployed products.
- Integrate Progent with customer databases, APIs, SaaS tools, and internal systems.
- Work with LLMs, APIs, databases, webhooks, authentication, and MCP (Model Context Protocol).
- Debug issues across code, data, APIs, AI models, and third-party systems.
- Work directly with users and improve products based on real-world usage.
- Make practical engineering decisions and move quickly without getting blocked by non-critical details.
- Convert customer-specific implementations into reusable Progent capabilities.
Requirements:
- You enjoy building and shipping, not just learning concepts.
- You have strong coding fundamentals and are comfortable writing code independently.
- You understand basics such as APIs, HTTP, databases, SQL/queries, JSON, and integrations.
- You have built at least one AI/LLM project at work, in college, during an internship, hackathon, or independently.
- You are curious about technologies such as AI agents, tool calling, RAG, MCP, and workflow automation.
- You enjoy solving unclear problems and figuring things out independently.
- You can debug a problem across multiple systems rather than stopping at your part of the codebase.
- You communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- You take ownership from idea to deployment.
- Strong personal projects, hackathons, internships, open-source contributions, or products you have built independently matter significantly.
Good to Have:
- Hands-on experience with Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, Go, or similar languages.
- Experience building or consuming REST APIs.
- Familiarity with SQL and databases.
- Exposure to LLMs, RAG, AI agents, tool calling, or MCP.
- Experience integrating third-party SaaS platforms or APIs.
- Familiarity with Git, Linux, Docker, cloud platforms, or deployment workflows.
