About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and innovative Formwork Design Engineer – Product Design (R&D) to join our engineering and product development team.

The role involves researching, conceptualizing, designing, testing, and continuously improving formwork and temporary works systems for modern construction applications. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise in formwork engineering, structural analysis, product development, and construction methodologies, with the ability to develop practical, safe, scalable, and cost-effective engineering solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Product Design & Development: Design and develop innovative formwork, falsework, shoring, and scaffolding systems for diverse construction applications.
• Concept Development: Develop engineering concepts, prototypes, and standardized modular formwork systems.
• Engineering Documentation: Prepare detailed engineering drawings, technical specifications, design calculations, and product documentation.
• Testing & Validation: Plan and support prototype development, product validation, performance testing, and technical evaluations.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate with manufacturing, procurement, project execution, and quality teams to ensure product feasibility, manufacturability, and optimization.
• Research & Innovation: Evaluate new materials, technologies, and construction techniques to enhance product performance, safety, and efficiency.
• Continuous Improvement: Drive product improvement initiatives based on site feedback, operational challenges, and evolving market requirements.
• Value Engineering: Identify opportunities for cost optimization, material efficiency, standardization, and improved product lifecycle performance.
• Engineering Automation: Develop reusable engineering tools, design templates, and automated calculation sheets to improve design accuracy and productivity.
• Standards & Compliance: Ensure designs comply with applicable international standards, safety requirements, and engineering best practices.
• Technical Innovation: Contribute to innovation initiatives, technical presentations, and patent-related documentation, wherever applicable.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
• 4–8 years of relevant experience in formwork design, temporary works engineering, structural design, or R&D/product development within the construction industry.
• Strong understanding of reinforced cement concrete (RCC) construction, structural systems, and temporary works engineering.
• Practical experience with modular formwork systems and product engineering is preferred.
• Ability to translate engineering concepts into practical, manufacturable, and cost-effective products.

Technical Skill

Software Proficiency

• AutoCAD – Strong working knowledge.
• Autodesk Inventor – Preferred for 3D modelling and product design.
• Microsoft Excel – Proficiency in engineering calculations, design tools, and automated calculation sheets.

Engineering Expertise

• Formwork, falsework, scaffolding, and shoring systems.
• Structural analysis and load calculations.
• Design of steel and aluminium structural components.
• Connection detailing and load-transfer mechanisms.
• Fabrication, manufacturing processes, and design-for-manufacturability principles.
• Engineering drawings, technical specifications, and design documentation.

Exposure to Modular Formwork Systems

Familiarity with industry-standard formwork systems and solutions offered by manufacturers such as PERI, Doka, ULMA, MEVA, or similar modular formwork providers is desirable.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in research and development, product innovation, or engineering product development.
• Knowledge of prototype development, testing procedures, and product validation methodologies.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical decision-making skills.
• Ability to develop practical, scalable, and commercially viable engineering solutions.
