Food Safety and Quality Assurance

Role Overview

We are looking for a Food Safety / Quality Assurance professional with approximately 2 years of experience in the food industry. The candidate will support food safety, quality, hygiene, compliance, and audit-related activities across food manufacturing and processing facilities.

The role will involve conducting site assessments, reviewing food safety practices and documentation, identifying gaps, and supporting corrective and preventive actions.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct food safety and hygiene assessments at manufacturing, processing, warehouse, and other food-handling locations.
• Evaluate compliance with applicable food safety standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.
• Review implementation of HACCP, GMP, GHP, food safety management systems, and quality control procedures.
• Conduct site inspections and process walkthroughs to identify food safety and quality-related gaps.
• Review documentation including:
• SOPs and work instructions
• HACCP plans
• CCP monitoring records
• Cleaning and sanitation records
• Pest control records
• Temperature monitoring records
• Water and food testing reports
• Calibration records
• Training records
• Incident / non-conformance records
• Identify non-conformities, observations, and potential food safety risks and document them appropriately.
• Support preparation of audit reports, assessment reports, checklists, and corrective action plans.
• Follow up with process owners on corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) and closure of identified gaps.
• Conduct interviews with production, quality, warehouse, procurement, and other relevant personnel.
• Support audits and assessments covering raw materials, production processes, storage, handling, packaging, and finished goods.
• Assist in evaluating supplier and vendor food safety practices, where required.
• Maintain appropriate audit evidence and working papers for project documentation.
• Travel to client locations across India as required for project assignments.

Required Knowledge / Skills

• Good understanding of Food Safety, HACCP, GMP and GHP principles.
• Basic understanding of food manufacturing and processing operations.
• Knowledge of food safety risks related to raw materials, production, storage, handling, and finished products.
• Ability to identify and document food safety and hygiene deficiencies.
• Good analytical and report-writing skills.
• Good working knowledge of MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to interact with personnel at different levels within a manufacturing / food-processing environment.
• Willingness to travel extensively to client locations.

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates with exposure to any of the following will be preferred:

• FSSAI requirements and food safety regulations
• HACCP certification
• ISO 22000 / FSMS
• Internal Food Safety Audits
• GMP / GHP audits
• Food quality inspections
• Supplier quality audits
• Food testing / laboratory coordination
• Food manufacturing or FMCG environments

Experience

Approximately 2 years of relevant experience in areas such as:
