Flight Software & Systems Integration Engineer

Job Description

• Customise, tune and extend ArduPilot/PX4 for fixed-wing VTOL, multirotor and interceptor airframes; own parameter sets, control-loop tuning and failsafe logic.
• Integrate INS/IMU/GNSS, airspeed, optical-flow/VIO and EO/IR payloads; implement GPS-denied navigation fallbacks.
• Build and run hardware-in-the-loop and software-in-the-loop test benches; author flight-test plans and analyse DataFlash/ULog logs.
• Integrate flight controllers with ABPPL radios, ground stations and tether power systems; define vehicle-level interface-control documents.
• Lead field flight trials with the hardware team; produce trial reports and root-cause analyses.
• Contribute embedded C/C++ for custom flight-controller and companion-computer code.
• Use AI/LLM tools daily for code generation, datasheet analysis, test-plan drafting and design-review preparation, and verify all generated output.
• Maintain structured, versioned engineering documentation using Git, issue trackers and design-review packages.

Experience

35 years hands-on product development (design/build/ship; not support, services, or QA-only)

Key Skills

• 3+ years with ArduPilot or PX4 on real airframes, including tuning and flight-test responsibility.
• Strong C/C++ and Python; able to modify autopilot source, not just parameters.
• Understanding of sensor fusion (EKF), GNSS/INS behaviour and control-loop basics.
• Can bring up a flight-controller board, read its schematic and isolate an electrical fault from a software one.
• Can read a schematic, flash and debug a microcontroller, and write a Python utility script.
• Personally shipped at least one hardware/firmware product or field prototype to a real user.
• Fluent with Git, issue trackers and structured written design documentation.
• Willing to work on defence and dual-use programmes and travel for field trials.

Good to have: GNSS-denied/visual-inertial navigation, interceptor/swarm/tethered UAV programmes, MATLAB/Simulink or Python control-system modelling, DGCA/CEMILAC certification exposure.

Work Preference: On-site at Thaltej, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, with field-trial travel within India. Frequent involvement in UAV integration and field flight trials is part of the role.
