About this role
WIZARD LEARNING PRIVATE LIMITED
Small Wonders Early Child Development Centre
Finance Manager
Finance and Accounts | Full Time | Kolkata (Minto Park, Hungerford Street)
About Us
Wizard Learning Private Limited operates Small Wonders, one of Kolkata's leading early childhood
education groups, with three campuses at Hungerford Street, Salt Lake and New Alipore. We serve over
900 children with a team of more than 170 educators and staff. As the group grows, we are building a
finance function that does more than keep the books. We want someone who can run accounts with
discipline and also give the promoters the numbers they need to plan the next phase.
The Role
The Finance Manager will own the accounts function across the group. This is first and foremost an
accounting role. You will keep the books accurate, close the month on time, run GST, TDS, income tax and
ROC compliance for the company and the directors, support audits, and supervise the junior accounts
staff across campuses.
Because the books will be in your hands, you will also be the natural person to give management a clear
financial picture. We expect a monthly MIS by campus, basic cost analysis, and help with budgets and
cash flow planning when asked. This is a smaller part of the role and builds directly on clean accounts, not
a separate job.
You will work closely with the promoters and our external CA firm. We are looking for someone from a
CA firm background who has seen the full compliance cycle for private limited companies and individuals,
and who wants to own the accounts function of a growing business end to end.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting Operations
Maintain accurate and up-to-date books of accounts in Tally ERP, Zoho Books and internal systems
Handle day-to-day entries, vendor payments, fee receipts, payroll accounting and petty cash
Perform bank reconciliations and ledger scrutiny on a regular schedule
Manage month-end and year-end closing, including provisions, accruals and journal entries
Keep the fee receivables ledger clean and chase overdue fees with campus heads
Supervise and review the work of junior accounts staff across the three campuses
Taxation and Compliance
Own GST compliance end to end: registrations, monthly and annual returns, reconciliations and input
credit
Manage TDS deduction, deposit, returns and issuance of certificates
Prepare and file income tax returns and advance tax workings for the company and the individual
directors
Handle tax planning basics, notices and assessment support in coordination with our CA firm
Track and complete ROC and other statutory filings for a private limited company on time
Support statutory, internal and GL audits with complete and well-organised documentation
MIS and Planning Support
Prepare monthly MIS covering revenue, expenses, receivables and cash position for each campus
Maintain simple dashboards in Excel or Google Sheets for fee collections, costs and budgets
Conduct cost analysis by campus and by expense head, and flag variances and savings opportunities
Assist management with the annual budget, cash flow planning and financial inputs for new initiatives
such as fee revisions or a new campus
Who Should Apply
Experience: 5 to 7 years of accounting experience, with a strong preference for candidates who have
worked at a CA firm
Qualification: B.Com or M.Com; CA Inter or CMA Inter will be an advantage
Accounting and Taxation: Solid working knowledge of GST, TDS and income tax for both companies
and individuals; familiarity with private limited company compliance and audits
Reporting: Comfortable preparing monthly MIS and basic cost reports from the books; experience
with budgets or cash flow projections is a plus, not a must
Systems: Proficiency in Tally ERP and Zoho Books; strong Excel skills including pivottables and lookups
Working Style: Manages deadlines independently, supervises junior staff, and communicates clearly
with management and auditors
Integrity: High standards of accuracy, confidentiality and integrity in handling company and personal
financial information
