    Role Overview

We are seeking a commercially strong, hands-on Head of Finance to lead the finance function across manufacturing operations and the broader business.

The role requires a finance professional with deep, practical experience in manufacturing finance, product costing, factory-level financial controls, inventory management, working capital, and profitability analysis. The successful candidate must have personally managed finance operations in a manufacturing environment and possess recent, demonstrable experience in implementing, upgrading, or transforming a modern ERP platform.

This is an execution-oriented leadership role. The Head of Finance will work closely with the CEO, manufacturing, procurement, supply chain, sales, and operations teams to strengthen financial discipline, improve margins, optimise working capital, and build scalable financial systems to support business growth.

    Key Responsibilities

    1. Manufacturing Finance & Factory Controlling

    • Own financial planning, reporting, controls, and performance monitoring for manufacturing operations.
    • Develop and maintain product costing models covering raw materials, ingredients, packaging, direct labour, utilities, production overheads, and other manufacturing costs.
    • Establish and monitor standard costing, actual costing, cost variances, and manufacturing cost absorption.
    • Analyse material consumption, production yield, process losses, wastage, scrap, and production variances.
    • Work closely with production and procurement teams to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve manufacturing efficiency.
    • Monitor factory-level profitability, cost per unit, contribution margins, and product-wise profitability.
    • Ensure accurate inventory valuation, work-in-progress (WIP) accounting, finished goods valuation, and reconciliation of physical and book stocks.
    • Implement controls over material movements, stock adjustments, production consumption, and manufacturing transactions.

    2. ERP Implementation & Finance Transformation

    • Lead finance-related ERP implementation, migration, upgrade, or major process transformation, with demonstrable ownership of implementation activities.
    • Translate business and finance requirements into ERP workflows, controls, reports, and system configurations in collaboration with internal teams and implementation partners.
    • Ensure integration across finance, procurement, inventory, production, costing, sales, and supply chain modules.
    • Drive accurate master data, including item masters, bills of materials (BOMs), cost centres, chart of accounts, and inventory valuation parameters.
    • Oversee data migration, opening balances, transaction validation, user acceptance testing (UAT), reconciliations, and go-live readiness.
    • Establish ERP-based financial controls, approval workflows, audit trails, and management reporting.
    • Drive user adoption, process standardisation, and post-implementation stabilisation.
    • Ensure ERP-generated reports provide reliable, timely information for operational and strategic decisions.

Experience with modern platforms such as Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance, SAP S/4HANA, or Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP will be relevant. Candidates must demonstrate actual implementation or transformation involvement rather than routine end-user exposure alone.

    3. Financial Planning, Budgeting & Business Performance

    • Lead annual budgeting, rolling forecasts, and financial planning across manufacturing and commercial functions.
    • Prepare and monitor budgets for manufacturing costs, raw materials, manpower, overheads, capital expenditure, and operating expenses.
    • Conduct budget-versus-actual analysis and drive corrective actions with functional leaders.
    • Develop financial models to evaluate pricing, product profitability, capacity utilisation, expansion plans, and capital investments.
    • Provide actionable financial insights to the CEO and business leaders to support operational and commercial decisions.

    4. Working Capital & Cash Flow Management

    • Manage cash flow forecasting, liquidity planning, fund utilisation, and short-term financial requirements.
    • Improve working capital through disciplined inventory management, receivables collection, and supplier payment planning.
    • Monitor inventory ageing, slow-moving and obsolete stock, credit exposure, and cash conversion cycles.
    • Coordinate with banks and financial institutions on working capital facilities, banking arrangements, and financing requirements.
    • Establish effective cash management practices to support business continuity and expansion.

    5. Financial Reporting & Month-End Closing

    • Own monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes, ensuring accuracy and timely completion.
    • Oversee the preparation and review of P&L statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and management reports.
    • Establish a robust monthly closing calendar, account reconciliation process, and balance sheet review mechanism.
    • Ensure accurate accounting of manufacturing costs, inventory, provisions, depreciation, and capital expenditure.
    • Develop dashboards and management reports covering revenue, gross margins, manufacturing costs, working capital, and profitability.
    • Use advanced Excel, Power BI, and ERP reporting capabilities to improve the quality and speed of financial analysis.

    6. Cost Optimisation & Profitability Improvement

    • Identify opportunities to improve gross margins through better procurement, production efficiency, waste reduction, and cost control.
    • Analyse product, category, channel, and business-unit profitability.
    • Evaluate raw material price movements and their impact on product margins.
    • Work with business stakeholders to improve cost transparency, pricing decisions, and operating efficiencies.
    • Establish measurable cost-reduction initiatives and monitor realised financial benefits.

    7. Taxation, Audit, Compliance & Internal Controls

    • Ensure compliance with applicable Indian accounting standards, GST, Income Tax, and other statutory requirements.
    • Oversee internal and external audits, tax audits, statutory reporting, and timely closure of audit observations.
    • Establish strong internal financial controls covering procurement, inventory, production, payments, revenue, and capital expenditure.
    • Identify financial and operational risks and implement appropriate mitigation measures.
    • Ensure accurate financial documentation, statutory records, and audit trails.

    8. Finance Team Leadership & Business Partnership

    • Lead, mentor, and develop the finance and accounts team.
    • Establish clear responsibilities, performance standards, and accountability across the finance functio
