Finance Assistant

Job Summary

We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced finance professional with a strong background in UK Financial Services and FCA regulatory reporting.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in FCA RegData reporting, RMAR submissions, regulatory capital calculations and financial reporting.

This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, reconciliations, management reporting and regulatory requirements within the UK financial services sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and support the submission of FCA regulatory returns through RegData.
• Prepare and review relevant sections of the Retail Mediation Activities Return (RMAR).
• Monitor and calculate regulatory capital requirements.
• Ensure timely and accurate completion of regulatory reporting requirements.
• Perform month-end accounting activities and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Prepare management accounts, financial reports and Management Information (MI).
• Monitor cash flow and support treasury-related activities.
• Reconcile income, adviser charges, commissions and other financial transactions.
• Support VAT reporting and other statutory reporting requirements.
• Assist with year-end accounting processes and external audit requirements.
• Ensure financial records and reconciliations are accurate and maintained in accordance with internal policies.
• Work closely with finance, compliance and operational teams to meet regulatory deadlines.

Key Skills & Experience Required

• Previous experience in FCA regulatory reporting.
• Hands-on experience with FCA RegData.
• Experience preparing or supporting RMAR submissions.
• Strong understanding of regulatory capital requirements.
• Experience working within a UK Financial Services, Wealth Management, Financial Planning or IFA environment.
• Strong accounting and financial reporting knowledge.
• Excellent reconciliation and analytical skills.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

Desirable:

• Experience with RMA-A and RMA-B reporting.
• Knowledge of CASS and client money regulations.
• Experience with adviser charging and commission reconciliations.
• Experience with FSCS and Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) levies.
• Experience with accounting systems such as Xero, Sage or similar platforms.
• Experience working with UK-based clients.

Education & Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance or Commerce.
• ACCA, ACA, CIMA or equivalent qualifications would be advantageous.

Experience Required

• 3 - 5 years of relevant finance and accounting experience.
• Relevant experience in FCA regulatory reporting is essential.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for candidates who have worked in one or more of the following environments:

• Independent Financial Adviser (IFA) firms
• Wealth Management companies
• FCA-regulated Financial Services organisations
• Financial Services outsourcing companies supporting UK clients

Candidates with only general UK accounting, bookkeeping or year-end accounting experience and no exposure to FCA regulatory reporting or RMAR may not be suitable for this role.
