Role & responsibilities

Role Overview

The womenswear and accessories buyer balances creative trend forecasting with commercial data analysis. You will own the product lifecycle from initial market research and vendor negotiation to inventory tracking and end-of-season sales analysis.

Key Responsibilities

• Assortment Planning: Product Selection of womenswear (apparel, dresses, ethnic/western wear) and accessories (handbags, jewelry, belts, footwear) matching brand identity

• Trend Forecasting: Market Intelligence gathering via trade shows, global/local fashion trends, and competitor analysis

• Vendor Management: Supplier Sourcing to build and manage domestic and international vendor networks, negotiating pricing, margins, and delivery schedules

• Financial & Inventory Control: Budgeting & Open-to-Buy (OTB) management, sales forecasting, tracking sell-through rates, and planning markdown strategies.

• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Visual Merchandising & Marketing alignment to ensure product presentation, campaigns, and in-store stock placement drive maximum engagement and sales.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Experience: 3-6+ years in fashion buying or retail merchandising focusing on apparel or lifestyle accessories.
• Analytical Skills: Data Proficiency in managing inventory spreadsheets, pricing strategies, and sales metrics (ideally advanced Excel or AI planning tools).
• Education: Degree in Fashion Buying, Textiles, Business Management, or merchandising certification (like NIFT) is preferred.
• Soft Skills: Commercial Awareness combined with strong negotiation, communication, and decision-making capabilities.
