Steel Melting Shop Key Roles

1. Furnace Operation
   
• Operate EAF/Induction Furnace safely and efficiently.
• Control melting, refining, temperature and tap-to-tap time.
2. Steel Chemistry Control
   
• Monitor and adjust C, Mn, Si, S, P and alloying elements.
• Ensure the required steel grade chemistry.
3. Ladle Furnace (LF) Operation
   
• Temperature adjustment and secondary refining.
• Alloy additions, deoxidation and slag control.
4. Vacuum Degassing (VD/VOD)
   
• Control vacuum treatment where applicable.
• Reduce dissolved gases and improve steel cleanliness.
5. Continuous Casting (CCM) Coordination
   
• Coordinate ladle-to-tundish-to-mould operations.
• Maintain casting temperature, speed and quality.
6. Slag Management
   
• Control slag composition, foaming and carryover.
• Maintain proper refining conditions.
7. Quality Control
   
• Check temperature and chemical samples.
• Ensure production meets grade specifications.
8. Production & Productivity
   
• Achieve daily production targets.
• Reduce power consumption, electrode consumption, metal loss and downtime.
9. Safety
   
• Follow SMS safety procedures for molten metal, furnaces, ladles and gases.
• Ensure PPE and SOP compliance.
10. Team/Shift Management

• Supervise operators and coordinate with maintenance, quality and CCM teams.
• Prepare shift reports and monitor operational issues.
